What is Aircore?

All the Aircore planes use the same "Aircore Power Core" which easily snaps in and out of each Aircore plane. The "power core" contains the Motor, ESC, servos, push rods, and receiver. The receiver uses the open source SLT protocol which means it will work with any Tactic radio, Hitec Aurora 9X, Hitec Flash, or any Spektrum, Futaba, or Hitec radio with an AnyLink Module. The whole power core module is about 4” long. The pushrod attachment points are all magnetic as is the aircore frame. It literally snaps into place and all the pushrods join up via magnets. Swapping the core from plane to plane is super simple. The spinners are different between planes but this is only a 30 second process to change a spinner since they are pressure fit. This whole concept is super well thought out and actually works perfectly. We were honestly were a bit skeptical though we are now very pleasantly surprised at how well this system works. It takes less than 60 seconds to swap the Power Core from one Aircore plane to another. You can own 10 Aircore planes and only need one power core. Each plane in the series uses the same prop making swaps even more simple.

Flyzone Aircore Miss America P-51 Build Review:

The build cannot be easier. Simply install the magnetic wing, insert the aileron push rods into the “track” (need needle nose pliers for this), and install Aircore Power Module. No glue or screws required. Installing the aircore power core is a 30 second process. ALL control surfaces are hinged with nylon “pinned” hinges (similar to Freewing). All the aircore planes are 4 channel with the exception of the “principal trainer” which is a 3 channel. It is fantastic to have ailerons on such a small plane. We are unsure about the type of foam. The bead size is too small to be EPO but too large and not smooth enough to be EPS. It seems like a hybrid between the two.

Flyzone Aircore Miss America P-51 Flight Review:

We flew the Miss America P-51D around at less than half throttle without any additional elevator required. We like the battery to be a little bit farther back so it is not too nose heavy. We can fly the plane plenty slow enough for indoor flight but full speed is likely too fast for indoor flight. We are amazed at this little planes power! There is plenty of power for large loops and immelmann turns. We get flight times of 6 to 7 1/2 minutes on the 250mAh 2S LiPo (with deans micro connector). We were at 3.85V per cell after 6 minutes of mixed throttle flight and 3.75V per cell after 7.5 minutes of mixed throttle flight. The plane seems to be designed for nose heavy flight. This is not noticeable until you try to do a roll. We had to apply a lot of down pressure to achieve an axial roll. We moved the battery farther back and this condition no longer existed. While there is limited room to move the battery forward or back, this slight bit of movement can change the plane from nose heavy to tail heavy in order to accommodate personal preference. Most people prefer a nose heavy CG and this is easy to achieve so we think a forward battery position will be perfect for most. We however, prefer a neutral to tail heavy plane so we have the battery as far back as possible which means the battery is touching the servo directly behind the battery. This is the perfect position to achieve a nice axial roll. This battery position allows for flying complete circuits inverted. Rolls are much faster and snap rolls are possible. We found keeping full rates and taming them with expo was our preference as this yielded a decently quick roll rate. We also found 70% throws appropriate for ailerons and elevator if expo is not used. Landing is super easy. The plane simply glides to a stop. It is very well mannered. The Aircore planes are absolutely the most fun we've had with micro/mini size RC planes in a long time. We are honestly big fans of these planes. IMPORTANT: Hand launch should be done at 60% to 75% throttle. DO NOT launch at 100%. We tried this the first time and the torque roll was too much.

  1. Wind? What wind?

    I live in an area where I do not have access to a large open areas or clubs close by. So I tend to buy a lot of micro park flyers. Of course these planes do not do well in windy conditions. But not this plane. Miss America handled 10 mph wind (with gush up to 20 mph) very nicely today, which was its maiden flight. Plane did get pushed around, but not as badly as you might think. Also, I was able to fly with about 65% throttle against the wind. With full throttle, this plane flew like it was a calm day. I was able to do snap-rolls and loops without any regard to wind direction. I flew for 4 min 15 sec and battery was at 55%. I bought this plane and ME 109 which I flew the other day. Both of them are fantastic to fly and plenty of power on tap. I was also pleasantly surprised that I did not need to change any trim as I moved the core from ME 109 to this plane. Combined with my experience so far with Motion RC, I could not be happier with this purchase.
