FMS Extra 300 3D Aerobatic Airplane 1300mm (51") Wingspan - PNP

FMS 1300mm Extra 300 3D Aerobatic Receiver Ready RC Airplane - FMS063

The FMS Extra 300 is without a doubt one of the best built aerobatic RC planes on the market. This plane is built like a tank with high quality feature throughout. Multiple carbon spars give the wing the perfect combination of strength and flexibility, the entire plane utilizes 17g metal gear servos (no 9g or plastic gear servos on this plane!), the rudder has pinned hinges for extra safety and performance, and the elevator halves are joined by a thick plastic spar to ensure strength and perfect alignment during fast maneuvers. The Build quality of this plane is second to none.

This plane has the amazing versatility to handle perfectly at both very high speeds and very low speeds. Hovering, harriers, knife edge flight, and outside loops can be performed with relative ease. This is one great plane which is capable of most, if not all, 3D maneuvers. While the FMS Extra 300 is very easy to land, the scale rubber tires and heavy-duty, thick gauge metal landing gear are ready to absorb the shock of the occasional not so perfect landing.

FMS considered every detail when designing this plane. There is even a separate compartment on the bottom of the plane for your receiver and antenna. The receiver compartment is easily accessible by removing a magnetic hatch cover. The separate battery compartment on the top of the plane also has a strong magnetic hatch and plenty of room for a variety of battery sizes.

Many customers ask if this plane can be flown by individuals who do not have any 3D skills or are not 3D pilots. The answer is absolutely YES! The other question we are frequently asked about the FMS 3D planes is how they handle in windy conditions. These FMS 3D planes are absolutely amazing in windy conditions. We developed the video below to demonstrate how the Extra handles the wind and also how the plane can be flown as a fun, super-responsive sport airplane in addition to all out aerobat.

  • Exceptional scale detail including hand painted pilot figure, factory applied graphics, and three blade sport propeller
  • Built from the ground up for durability with heavy gauge metal landing gear, 17g metal gear high torque servos, carbon fiber reinforced main wing panels, plastic spar reinforced elevator, and nylon pinned rudder hinges
  • Made with durable, damage resistant EPO foam
  • Separate receiver and servo compartment with magnetic hatch cover
  • Spacious battery compartment gives pilots the option of flying light weight 4S batteries for full 3D or larger 4S batteries for more sport and longer run times
  • Large, scale control surfaces for advanced 3D and aerobatic flight
  • Powerful 60A ESC and 760Kv Motor
  • Motor, ESC, and servos come pre-installed for your convenience
  • Large scale, stable flight platform handles windy condition and bold graphics make the Extra 300 easy to see even at far distances

  1. CG 120mm nose heavy. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Apr 2016

Another quality product from FMS and great service Motion RC.
Build was easy and quick but on checking the recommended CG of 120 mm it came out very nose heavy with the battery (4S 3000 mAH) as far back as possible. Have any other flyers of this model changed the CG or just put weights in to tail end of plane?

  2. Awesomeness on a stick 4 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Feb 2016

The plane flies like a dream - I didn't even need _any_ trim adjustment.
Very easy to land. Very good looking. Performs well. And can fly slow and elegantly.
Took off the spats and small wheels ( Fun Cub wheels look really good and work in long dewy grass ).
The finish is good - but the rudder was sloppily cut away from the fin - and the tail-plane was canted over a few degrees - nothing a dremmel on the seating couldn't fix.

  3. fix the pants 4 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Oct 2015

first... ariived damaged paint and pilot loose and flopping second the pants interfier with wheels on landings causing them to lock up and break gear mount .shimmed the wheels and enlarged openings on wheel pants .now fine now to the good... love the plane flys great sounds great lots of power too . very stable.and easy to fly for an average pilot with the rates set as per manul <low rates>

  4. Not what I was hoping for 2 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Aug 2015

The good: Looks great, goes together easily.
Modifications: Enlarged wheel pants opening. The wheel pant opening is too small, and the wheels chafe on them when landings aren't perfect. Also replaced the pushrods with regular z-bend/steel clevis. Recommended CG is good for 3D, but I have moved it forward 1/4" until properly trimmed.
At some point, propeller and/or motor will be replaced. While vertical performance is decent, it's a pretty slow plane overall.
The bad: I still have not been able to get the plane to fly straight at different speeds. Adding up-thrust helped to get it to fly level at different throttle settings, but it still needs 1/16" right trim on the ailerons. More experimentation and tuning needed on a calm day.

  5. pure awesomeness 5 Star Review

This plane went together very well and looks amazing. I cant wait to get it in the air. I ordered it thrusday and got it today. Fast shipping. Great job motion rc and fms. Look forward to ordering the whole fms line of 3d planes.

  6. Awesome Plane 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Dec 2014

Excellent build quality. Excellent in the air with no bad tendencies. Had to slide battery way back in the holder to get cg close but the battery compartment is HUGE so no problems there. Set throws per manual and this plane is good for precision or 3D. Floats in nice just keep a little throttle worked in on landing. Awesome plane FMS and Motion RC!!!

  7. Not what I expected from the recommended FMS 2 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Dec 2014

After my second landing which was not smooth but not hard either, the landing gear plate fell off and broke 2 propellers. The screws where not properly identified on installation, it was a trial and error.
The motor is under power for this type of airplane.
I changed every thing : Motor ESC 2bladed prop (APC) I can get this locally. No more FMS for me.

  8. Big and Fun, but lacks Precision 4 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Aug 2014

I only have about 10 flights on it. To be honest, I hated it for the first 3 flights. Then I moved all EZ links on the aileron servos and the elevator servo all the way in toward the center. I slowed everything down as much as I could to increase fidelity and torque. Except the rudder. I had to move its EZ link to the outer most hole on the servo wheel. Now I love the airplane. It flies the Big sky now. Big loops and Cubans. Fantastic.

It still has 3 flaws. First the hinges are not pocket hinges. They are wedge hinges. They create a slight amount of turbulence over the control surface and reduce your ability to trim the airplane with precision. It is really only a factor on the pitch axis. But its very noticeable. The second flaw, if you consider it a flaw, is the propeller pitch. The blades are very flat. The airplane climbs great and no doubt is capable of hovering. But when it comes time to fly wide open and make giant maneuvers and fly the entire field, there is no speed. I wish the top end was faster. The third flaw pertains to knife edge maneuvers. The airplane tucks significantly when in a knife edge. You will need a computer radio with a knife edge mixer. The color scheme shows up very well. I had some concern about a blue airplane. No worries there. The landing gear tend to doeing a little when you land sometimes. I think the plane has enormous potential. But it needs a little work. It is a great size. Even though the span is slightly less than the FMS 4S warbirds, it actually appears larger do to the larger wing area and fat fuselage. I would call this a bargain. I hope FMS develops a second version and addresses the issues that I mentioned.

  9. Great Plane! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Aug 2014

This is my first FMS plane. From box to first flight was really good. Everything seemed straight. As always...I wonder why landing gears seem to be the last thing manufacturers think of. This one seemed questionable...and I was right. I'll be ordering a new prop today. In the air....this bird flies well. I'd like it to have a little more power....but overall experience is good. I was impressed with price and speed of Motion RC! Great experience thus far.

  10. weak landing gear inserts 4 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Aug 2014

received the plane fast well packaged putting it together was straight forward. The plastic landing grear that is glued to the plane that supports the landing gear is got to be the worst set up I've seen. I cracked mine just taxing off the run way to the longer grass after its second flight. trimming was a brezze and it tracked well, and as most 3d planes you want to fly down. I called motion twice i didn't and wasn't buying a hole new fuselage for the plastic insert. I was told th?ey have had some minor problems with these and have seperate ones on order but won't be avalabale for 3 to 4 more weeks. I was also told just apoxy it back together. THat won't either. so there it sets. I'm afarid to modify for warranty reasons. Have bought from motion several times before but I'm not very happy with this answer on this plane and don't see how the replacement part is going to be any better?

  11. Niceeeeeeeeeee 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Jul 2014

Easy build, never flew this kind of plane before, most say it is very easy on high rates or the low rates, that they recommend for sport flying. Use the admiral 3600 battery. Only problem is the prop broke on grass and a pain to change. Still give it a 5 star for all around performance. Have over a 100 flight on her and looks like the day I took it out of box......

  12. Great Plane, Great Price 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Jun 2014

This is an excellent plane. No issues with the PNP build, went together easy. Fly's extremely well. I was surprised at the quality of this plane from start to air time.

    BUY IT

  13. Nice Plane! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th May 2014

Great plane to match the service from Motion! This build was flawless. Running a 4s/3000 with great success. The low rates given for sport flying are close to on spot and what a fun plane to fly at that. At low rates it is like a trainer and floats in the sky, but pour on the throttle and it gets up and goes. I have three solid flights with no issues and that is running off a grass field. I did mod the wheel pants to accept a larger foam tire set up. The 4th FMS plane to keep me loyal Motion.

  14. Another winner from FMS and Motion RC 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th May 2014

This is a very solid airframe, well thought out by FMS. The packaging kept everything perfect. This was an easy build using high quality parts that went together well and looks amazing. I haven't flown her yet but I am looking forward to it. The guys at Motion RC are the best from the very helpful online videos to their exceptional customer service. I truly enjoy doing business with them.

  15. Nice build, great flyer 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Jan 2014

Build went together nicely, flew it with the 4s 2500 Admiral battery, flew nice, take off the runway and go straight up til it almost spots out. Aerobatics were smooth and crisp, did get it into a hover with 3 mins used on battery and it had enough power to pull straight up out of it. Landing was easy, it glides in well.
