Includes one FMS designed servoless electronic retract. Designed for use on the FMS 1400mm P-51B and P-51D warbirds.
NOTE: These retracts open and close at half the speed of the stock retracts so they require this 6 second sequencer (click here) when used on an FMS P-51.

The retract gear has worked very well but one hard landing broke the plastic mounting angle rails. But, perhaps it saved the wing by not tearing out the gear. However, the replacement new gear was easy to replace.
Service from Motion RC is best out there!

I was able to replace in less then 30 min.

all it takes is a hard landing and they start cracking. If they made these stronger would the wings or spars start cracking or bending? Maybe its a good thing they give first but @ $20+ a pop better brush up on smooth landings!

The electronics work fine, however unless you have a perfectly smooth landing every time, the plastic screw plate will fracture and the retracts will loosen up. If it goes unnoticed your gear will collapse resulting in damage to your aircraft. To eliminate this problem, I wrapped/epoxied the retract plastic housing with very thin sheet metal and problem solved - After numerous landings the retracts are now solid.

I have the V7 P51, These are by far a better quality than my stock ones. A little foam carving was required but the fit, and action is outstanding. When I held them side by side with the old ones, BEEFY! Expect a longer life span for sure.

These are direct replacements for the P-51 V8 and of course on my first flight I made a hard landing and one of the retract mounts failed. So I ordered one, replaced it (easy) and flew yesterday. The one I didn't replace failed on a not so hard landing. Maybe I should buy two at a time? Never had a retractable gear plane before. Anyways the newer one did just fine. The only thing I wish is that I had some colored tape to cover the wire channel to keep the invasion stripes intact. The collapse yesterday ripped the tape in half. :(

Replaced the retracts on a Airfield P-51 which were junk they just snapped up and down, Very easy mod with little trimming of the wheel openings. I bought the struts along with the retracts and I am very well pleased with these products. Waiting on spring as I live in Ohio to try the gear on our club grass field.

I put these in a V7, P51D, a little foam trimming fit like a glove. They take the abuse I give them on my rough landings!

what a smooth well built piece, these fit good and will work for many planes, fms or not

I don't land so good. I went through a lot of the cheaper three second retracts. I thought once I got the new strut I would be OK, but the servoless retracts still gave me problems. I finally went to the Six second, more scale, twice as expensive retract. It is easy to see they are much better made. I had one apart, and the quality inside is way better than the cheaper gear. These are well worth the expense even if you are not looking for more scale retract speed! I have not had any problem with them.
I was cautioned to not put more than about 6.5 volts on them, so be careful there.

mechanically they work great until the side plates crack from landing a little hard in wind. you cant tell until next retract on takeoff. gear will jamb in open position. had this happen twice. have to take out gear mechanism to find cracked side plate. plate is plastic. when it cracks the jackscrew cant function. needs more work in this area. I like the gear other than that. always works and looks great. keep refining it FMS its getting better. also need to sell replacement studs for gear. they do get bent without damage to any other parts! have both v7 and v8 mustangs the parts aren't interchangeable. have to change out whole gear set.

I purchased a set of FMS 1400 mm retracts for my FMS P-51 Red Tail. Retracts arrived on time. Looked great in the package. Installation was very easy. Retracts worked great. I have about 30 flights on them now and no issues at all.

I installed these on an FMS 1400mm AM6 Zero. They are a drop in fit with no modification. The only thing you need to do is drill out the hole for the gear legs from 4mm to 4.7mm. Excellent retracts. Very scale too!
