FMS Yak 54 3D Aerobatic Airplane 1300mm (51") Wingspan - PNP

FMS 1300mm Yak 54 3D Aerobatic Receiver Ready - FMS061

Similar to the other scale RC planes in the FMS 3D aerobatic lineup, the Yak 54 is yet another incredibly well built aircraft. One of the most innovative features of this plane is that there are no foam hinges on the entire aircraft, all control surfaces utilize nylon hinges. This plane is built like a tank with high quality feature throughout. Multiple carbon spars give the wing the perfect combination of strength and flexibility, the entire plane utilizes 17g metal gear servos (no 9g or plastic gear servos on this plane!), the rudder has pinned hinges for extra safety and performance, and the elevator halves are joined by a thick plastic spar to ensure strength and perfect alignment during fast maneuvers. The Build quality of this plane is second to none.

This plane has the amazing versatility to handle perfectly at both very high speeds and very low speeds. Hovering, harriers, knife edge flight, and outside loops can be performed with relative ease. This is one great plane which is capable of most, if not all, 3D maneuvers. While the FMS Yak 54 is very easy to land, the scale rubber tires and heavy-duty, thick gauge metal landing gear are ready to absorb the shock of the occasional not so perfect landing.

FMS considered every detail when designing this plane. There is even a separate compartment on the bottom of the plane for your receiver and antenna. The receiver compartment is easily accessible by removing a magnetic hatch cover. The separate battery compartment on the top of the plane also has a strong magnetic hatch and plenty of room for a variety of battery sizes.

Many customers ask if this plane can be flown by individuals who do not have any 3D skills or are not 3D pilots. The answer is absolutely YES! The other question we are frequently asked about the FMS 3D planes is how they handle in windy conditions. These FMS 3D planes are absolutely amazing in windy conditions. We encourage you to read the reviews, the Yak 54 looks amazing, flies like its on rails and its innovative durability features are second to none.

  • Exceptional scale detail including hand painted pilot figure, factory applied graphics, and three blade sport propeller
  • Built from the ground up for durability with heavy gauge metal landing gear, 17g metal gear high torque servos, carbon fiber reinforced main wing panels, plastic spar reinforced elevator, and nylon hinges on ALL control surfaces

  1. Yak 54 4 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Feb 2016

Good looking plane, had a few defects, I'm sure that Motion will fix them.

  2. No 3D power 3 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Feb 2016

I have over 40 flights on this yak and it is very under powered for its size. The only thing that's good about it is it durability. When I first got it a crashed hard into the ground and with a few extra props it was back up in the air.

  3. Well made, easy build and flys great! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Feb 2016

Got this plane after lots of practice on the FMS Edge 540 and wow! This plane was super easy to build, it's very rigid and strong. I set the throws for sport/3D/3D Beast and this plane flys on rails, on the maiden I didn't have to touch any trim which made the maiden purely for fun. The throws can get pretty extreme so if you aren't used to a 3D plane I would keep the throws very light. If you love 3D you'll love the large throws.

  4. Great aerobatic airplane! 5 Star Review

I got this FMS Yak54 to replace my wrecked Dynam Pitts Python. It's a great upgrade from the Pitts. Set the CG at 100mm not 120mm recommended by FMS manual, 20mm makes a big difference on your maiden flight. After I use the two three blade props I will upgrade to a two blade, with the ESC dialed in it only pulls 550 watts at 42 amps now, plenty of room to improve the power and give the Yak more pop for hovering. overall it's a great airplane.

  6. Very nice foam Yak 4 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Aug 2015

This is my first sport plane, I have 5 flights, so far,and she flies really well. Although, I'm flying it like a trainer, (learning to fly more like a sport plane) I had to modify the tail section where the rudder pivots, because there was not enough clearance for the rudder to pivot, which caused the rudder hinge to bind. and I had one bad servo, that was replaced by MotionRc. If not for the servo issue, i would have given it 5 stars, I really enjoy flying this plane. very nice plane to transition to aerobatic flying. I'm sure if you are a serious 3D flyer you would not be flying this.

  7. Yak 54..You can't tell it's EPO Foam. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Jul 2015

When I first saw this plane on the Motion RC site, I though..I really don't want a foamie plane. I have been flying balsa planes. When I opened the box, I was amazed. At first glance you cannot tell its EPO foam. The quality is outstanding, and it came about 95% assembled. Took it to the field, and my senior club instructor usually trims my new planes for me. It flew on rails right out of the box. Yes I will get another plane like this one. Highly Recommended!!

  8. Great looking and a good Aerobatic plane! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Apr 2015

The plane came boxed well and the assembly was relatively easy given a few moments of stress getting the wing bolts lined up for insertion and one bad set screw for the servo rods and a bad servo. Once complete I maidened the bird and found it to fly strict to the inputs. Take off and landings were easy as it has good flight characteristics at low speeds. The flight time with slightly above average higher throttle was around 5 mins using the recommended battery. The overall construction and ease of accessing the battery and receiver trays is well thought out and easy to access. This is a great aerobatic for almost any type flyer and if not for the few problems I mentioned I would have given it 5 stars.

  9. Good to go. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Mar 2015

Easy to assemble, great quality. I really like the separate hatches for the battery and receiver, its a cool feature to keep them separate.
I flew it with the stock 3 blade and it was so-so. I then did the 'prop mod' by adding a strip of zip tie to the props and same thing, so-so. I then went to a 14x7 2 blade and now it is when it should be. The stock spinner and props are heavy, so going to a 2 blade with a light weight spinner is much much better for power and battery life.

  10. Great looking plane! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jan 2015

After a long break getting in to RC again and this is my first build. Went smooth, except rudder mount - plastic hinges were not aligned and rudder axle would pop out of it. Nothing serious and was remedied with a small file.
Finished plane looks gorgeous and can't wait to fly it this weekend.
Paint and parts fit is excellent, definitely will buy more FMS models in a future.
Like foam packing box which can be used for transporting long distance, so I saved it.
Will post review after first flight.
Thank you all in Motion RC, btw - great videos on youtube!

  11. Very Impressed! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Nov 2014

I just received this YAK-54 and it is my first FMS model. From the opening of the box, I was VERY impressed. Assembly was straight forward and everything went together as advertised. Motion RC shipped out VERY quickly. I haven't had the opportunity to maiden this bird yet...but I am chomping at the bit to do so (they are re-paving and improving my flying field). I am confident it will exceed my expectations though.

  12. The FMS YAK-54 is the best of the lot! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Oct 2014

The YAK-54 is the best of the three FMS 3D airplanes. The construction is great and very durable. I fly mine with an 80A ESC, 4S/5S batteries and a two blade 14x10 prop .
The plane is an outstanding 3D airplane and will do any maneuver.
I also fly mine with the Eagle A3 Super gyro and doing hovers and knife edges are a piece of cake. Takeoffs and landings are easy, especially with the gyro engaged during stiff crosswinds. This combination will peg your fun meter. The color combination is easy on the eyes. The pilot is the wrong figure because this airplane is flown by a French female acrobatic team.
Flying this type of airplane will hone your all-around flying skills!
MotionRC has the number one customer service organization and my go-to hobby shop!

  13. smooth and responsive 4 Star Review

My first flight was great. Just what I wanted. It did everything I wanted it to do on the first flight. Second flight went great only problem was I came in a little hard and the landing gear collapse but little damage. looking forward for my third flight.
