    This kit version of the Freewing SU-35 allows you to chose your own motor, ESC, and servos. The size of the Freewing SU-35 is an amazing site to behold. This plane is one of the largest, most sophisticated, foam EDF jets made. Whether you like scale flight or outlandish maneuvers, the Freewing SU-35 can do it all. We think the Freewing SU-35 is one of the most entertaining EDF jets out there. The specs alone are amazing. The SU-35 is built from EPS foam and has nylon hinged control surfaces, shock absorbing landing gear, and dual EDF fans. We are not sure what else to ask for in an EDF jet.

    They have thought of almost everything. Detachable parts, no major gluing, which means they are thinking long term and not just here today gone tomorrow. I wished they had a better manual that explained how thrust vectoring is setup and operated, but all the other good things cover for this issue. I have yet to maiden mine, but from what I hear and read she is just as good in the air.

    Excellent detail, reasonably well built jet. Bought it to work on this winter. Landing gear is ok, but easily modifies to be better. Fuse needs some carbon rods to add some strength. Honestly, one of the best made planes I own.

    Upgrade to 900w or 1400 watt MOTORS with an ESC strong enough to accommodate - 100amp should suffice. I'm running Castle 120 amp with 2 HET 1400 watt motors driving a 12 blade ChangeSun fan inside alloy housings. I've run many different size batteries and the largest I've had in this plane is the ThunderPower 6S 6600 mAh 70C. I modified the battery tray to get it to fit. I get over 4 min runtime with this setup and that's with only bursts to WOT. Typically I'm only running at a 1/3-1/2 throttle.

    This biggest complaint I have with this model is that main gear does not have the rotational strength to remain centered and both gear Oleos rotate slightly outwards which significantly reduces the longevity of the foam tires. I've already gone through at least 3 sets of oleos and tires. I find the retracts as long as the trunion is metal, hold up fine as long as you don't pound the plane into the runway.

    I would like to see MotionRC start carrying the fuselage part individually as they tend to wear faster than the other components - wings, rudders, elevators, etc.

    Otherwise, couldn't not be happier with this model. It's a crowd pleaser and with the upgraded motors and ESCs, streaks across the sky silently.


  5. 5th time is a charm

    I've bought the kit for this 5 times total from Motion RC and have become an expert on this plane. Here are my learnings:

    1) upgrade the fans to alloy CS12 with 900 or 1200 watt ESCs. Be sure to have them balanced first.
    2) replace the plastic landing gear brace with aluminum and fortify the end of the track to be load bearing. stock is asthetic only.
    3) install high quality servos
    4) after i added the alloy fan housings, CS12 blade and larger ESCs, i had to add weight to the nose cone to keep the CG balanced.
    5) the landing gear tends to wear quickly. i'm looking to replace with metal /rubber parts of equal size.
    6) flight time with 1200W motor and 120 ESCs on 6S 50C 5000mAh battery is 3 min tops.
    top speed somewhere around 70/80 mph. this model tracks as well as a balsa/fiberglass/composite
