L-39 Albatros 80mm EDF Jet - PNP from Freewing - FJ21511P

Combining the sport performance of the Avanti and the fidelity of scale aircraft like the A-4 and MiG-21, Freewing continues the legacy of its excellent performing 80mm EDF jets with its Freewing 80mm L-39C/Z Albatros!  Developed originally by Aero Vodochody in the 1960s in what is now the Czech Republic, the Aero L-39 Albatros excelled as a jet trainer platform with its powerful turbofan and overall reliability.  The L-39 and its successive variants continues in service throughout the world in militaries as trainers and light attack platforms, and in civil aviation including aerial demo teams and racing.

The Freewing L-39 Albatros is the largest and most capable production PNP L-39 in the world.  Optimized for high maneuverability and precision flying, the L-39 truly is a “Sport jet wearing Scale jet clothing”.  The PNP version uses a powerful 3530-1850kv brushless motor and 100A ESC to power the 12 blade 80mm EDF.

The Freewing L-39 Albatros includes grass capable suspension landing gear, a full coverage nose door, scale wingtip lights, and easily removable tip tanks, ordnance, belly gun pod, and wings.  Only one glue joint is required to complete the model’s general assembly.  A plastic lined cockpit also resists deformation under sunlight, and optional 3D Printed cockpit detail upgrade parts are also sold separately.

Great flying plane

Flying great with no trimming required with gear down or up. Landed at slowest speed and no elevator mixing required.

been flying mine now for awhile.....

Great plane but.... Im experiencing a problem on every flight with only this L-39 aircraft as I have many.. my plane wobbles like a shark swimming in the water...side to side....like a tire with a bent rim going down the road...Everything is straight and i have 20flights so far Feels like the rudder is not large enough..

Freewing 80mm L-39

The plane is good quality but I used an AR 8000 Spectrum receiver and the nose gear and 1 main gear quit working also blue control box quit working. Talk to Tech at Motion apparently there is a problem with ar8000 and blue control box. Motion replaced the parts and i changed the receiver the plane flies great..

L-39 Rocks!

The Freewing 80mm L-39 is my first “big” EDF. I flew the first two flights on the new jet today. I’ve had a couple off-brand 64mm EDF’s in the past. None of the 64mm EDF’s compares at all to the L-39! I’m more than happy with this product. The assembly was straight forward with zero issues. I took my time getting everything dialed in, yet it was ready to fly after a short weekends work. The maiden was a non event. Fount it to be a little nose heavy with the CG near the recommended location. But this was a non issue during the flight. It flew straight with only a couple clicks of nose up trim mostly due to the CG location at that point. I installed an Eagletree Guardian Flight Stabilizer, but did not turn it on at any point during the maiden. The L-39 clearly doesn’t require a “gyro”. Second flight again went off without a hitch. This time I activated the Guardian about half way through the flight with the gains set on the lower scale. It was a breezy and slightly bumpy day, all the stabilizer did was smooth out the bumps a little. Again totally not necessary, but will be a nice addition to those windy turbulent flying days. I really don’t have any complaints about the L-39. It’s a lot of bang for the buck. Plenty of power, event at 4500’ here in Grand Junction Colorado. It’s fast and flies with authority, but will also slow down nicely with no apparent bad habits. Well done Freewing and Motion RC!

l39 has lots of power on tap and fly's very well

I purchased the arf version as i had a set up from my mig 21 and was a bit concerned that it would be under powered as the edf had come from the mig but i stopped worrying once i open the throttle, more than enough power to suit this model and will take off in a short distance with half flap and land without flaps if needed but if you do use them it will slow right down before touchdown. no power is needed on landing if you keep your speed up a bit on approach, gear is solid as ever and will take long grass easy. very happy with it in all
