B206 Stars and Stripes 700 Size Helicopter Scale Conversion Kit from Roban - RBN-KF206SS7

This is the Roban B206 News 700 scale conversion kit.  A premium scale kit that offers unparalleled detail.  From tip-to-tail the B206 body kit displays an accuracy of detail to the real aircraft not normally seen in the RC helicopter hobby.

These scale kits house the cockpit (sold separately) in precisely the right location and are designed to fit your trex 700 mechanics or similar. The B206 really impresses with the highly detailed and accurately scaled down profile.

Originally developed as the YOH-4 for the United States Army's Light Observation Helicopter program, the Model 206 Jetranger was one of the first a generation of light single engine helicopters. Despite a losing the competition, the airframe was redesigned and successfully marketed to both commercial markets as the Jetranger, and military markets as the OH-58 Kiowa.

Commercially, the aircraft is one of the successful and recognizable helicopters ever produced. It has starred in films, served police and fire departments, fought in multiple wars, transported VIPs, flown aerial tours, trained generations of soldiers and Marines to fly, and operated as a medical transport.

Features:

  • Extremely detailed surface with molded panel lines and rivets
  • Use of 750MX standard equipment (12S Battery, 530kV motor), fly with your existing parts
  • Take off weight of 8kg (approximately double of a 700 3D helicopter)
  • 1750mm long, 1/8 scale

Important Information - Please Read

Roban Scale Helicopters are intended for modelers who have advanced level building skills. Both ARF and KIT product formats require you to install your own electronics (ESC, servos, motor, etc). KIT product formats also require you to install your own helicopter mechanics. Because helicopter mechanics can vary greatly in size and shape, you may be required to modify the fuselage slightly (including cutting, drilling, etc.) to achieve a perfect fit. Roban fuselages are all handmade from fiberglass and therefore may have slight variation in tolerances between body panels, doors, or windows. These variations do not affect flight performance and can be easily adjusted by an experienced builder with proper tools. These precautions are intended for novice builders; an experienced modeler should have no issue achieving perfect results with these premiere scale helicopters kits.

Could have been better

So there are three issues I had with this fuselage, one very minor that I can overlook, one that was more of an annoyance, and one that prompted me to write this review. On the outside the fuselage looks really nice, good paint except the stars are stickers. Yes they are stickers with clear coat over them. Along with recessed rivets which just looks awful. Many of the 600 size has recessed rivets as well, I would have preferred nothing so I could do them myself, and then paint. The second was very little thought of where to place the batteries. You basically have to make your own battery trays flanking your mechanics, but not a big issue, more of an annoyance. The biggest problem with this fuselage is the tail section where the tail case goes. This fuselage was made for the original Align 700e, or stretched Align 600 esp, like which is pictured. Both helicopters of which have been discontinued in 2011! If you have a newer 700l, or X the tail cases are too big, and you'll be cutting an awful lot to get the tail case to fit. I found in my collection of parts an old plastic tail case retainer, notched where the top bolt goes into, cut the whole center bottom out for the control rod, and had to make a huge hole removing all of the material on the bottom right of the tail opening. So basically Roban really does need to go and spend a day to remake the tail section for newer helicopters. Unless you have an older 700e laying around. There's no manual but you can find it online, and for the most part it's pretty useless. You can basically figure it out on your own. All in all Im not very impressed. Most fuselages regardless of manufacture you have to do some massaging to get things to fit, but this was pretty ridiculous. I'll try to add some photos if I can.

Bell 206 Stars and Stripes scale conversion kit.

This is a very good scale fuselage. The quality and fit of the parts is very good. My only complaint is that there were no instructions in the kit, and the instructions that are available on the Motion R/C website are only partially in English.

Outstanding product. High quality, very satisfied with this awesome looking model. Quality is outstanding, and the price is very good. Haven't had a chance to put it together with my heli.
