Difficult to takeoff

This is my second float plane. The first was a pipercub with floats. This aircraft struggles to take off of the water. The only option is to take off with a no wind day as even 1/2 inch waves will catch the wingtips on takeoff run and cause a 90 degree turn at near takeoff speeds. Fuselage is incredibly leaky and on all takeoff attempts the battery compartment was found filled with water. Lost one battery because of a that. This is a $200 float plane, the basic plane should not require hours of waterproofing and modification just to make it through a single takeoff. Taking off should be easy and its not. As a result of the above the 1st flight was off the grass: aircraft struggled to get airborne with recommended battery but flew nicely once in the air. Assembly was pretty standard for Dynam, cheap screws and parts but otherwise easy to put together. The battery compartment is organized in such a way that putting the battery aft enough to not have extremely nose heavy flight characteristics is a bit of a bother. Pros: Good stability, excellent glide ratio, smooth and fun control even with a basic transmitter setup (no expos, dual rates, ect), can takeoff of grass Cons: Very difficult to takeoff for the size and type of aircraft (ive taken off 60 inch underpowered warbirds at 7000 feet easier), not water tight due to poor build quality and design flaws. Maybe I got a bad one, but it has not been a fun aircraft to own.
