The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American flying boat, and later an amphibious aircraft of the 1930s and 1940s produced by Consolidated Aircraft. It was one of the most widely used seaplanes of World War II. Catalinas served with every branch of the United States Armed Forces and in the air forces and navies of many other nations.
During World War II, PBYs were used in anti-submarine warfare, patrol bombing, convoy escorts, search and rescue missions (especially air-sea rescue), and cargo transport. The PBY was the most numerous aircraft of its kind and the last active military PBYs were not retired from service until the 1980s. Even today, nearly 80 years after its first flight, the aircraft continues to fly as a waterbomber (or airtanker) in aerial firefighting operations all over the world.
Months of flight testing and design from Dynam yield an aircraft that is very stable and capable of maintaining flight at slow speeds that allow novices to master flight mechanics with ease. High quality scale detail and a nice large 1.4m wingspan make this an attention-grabbing model. Made from a high strength EPO-foam for added durability. Powered by twin 1100KV electric brushless motors. Included is a GAVIN-6A 6-Channel 2.4GHz Transmitter, Detrum MSR66A 6-Channel 2.4Ghz Mini Receiver with iStone 6-Axis Gyro/ABS, 3S 11.1V 2200 mAh LiPo battery so after the build you will be ready for water-based sorties and patrols!

- November 8, 2014 - You have to solder on your own connector in order to Y-harness the lights into another channel or nearby servo. Also for the RTF version make sure the included Detrum receiver/gyro is securely mounted to the fuselage before attempting to fly this airplane.

Nice little kit
Instructions are somewhat vague, but there are lots of youtube and other tips and tricks on the web. We have had a lot of fun with this Catalina. Crashed and rebuilt 4 times before we finally got it right.... Aileron's are trimmed 1mm up. Make sure center of gravity is good and she flies herself!! Awesome plane!
What a bird
After using steaming hot towels from the microwave to straighten the vertical stabilizer, Support helped greatly, very impressive. Make sure to get the C version of the controller (digital) not the manual (A model) no prop safety switch.
Read Before You Purchase
Easy to be attracted to this plane if you are new to rc airplanes like me. Multiple YouTube videos feature this plane including some build guides which are invaluable because the assembly instructions only rate a C-. Everything you need to fly is NOT, I repeat NOT in the box. If they were, I'd be flying right now as opposed to waiting for additional parts. Most notably, the servo wiring from the ailerons when connected to the servo Y extension cable is not long enough to reach the receiver mounted at the front of the canopy. You need to purchase two (2) 6-inch servo extension cables in order to complete the extension ($0.98). If you purchase the Admiral 2200mAh 3s 11.1V 35C LiPo battery with XT60 connector because Motion RC webpage recommends it (as I did), you'll never be able to use it until you also purchase an Admiral XT60 Female to T Connector Male Adapter ($1.99). DO NOT purchase the Dynam contact cement because Motion RC webpage recommends it (as I did). The kit already comes with two (2) tubes of contact cement. DO NOT purchase the 6-inch servo Y extension cable because Motion RC webpage recommends it (as I did). You DO NOT need it. The kit includes this Y servo connector. You do not need a second one. Do purchase a tube of Beacon Foam-Tac Glue, which is compatible with this EPO foam plane and SHOULD be recommended on the Motion RC webpage. Avoid disappointing delays, do your homework and read before you purchase.
Can't Wait to Try It!
Assembly was easy except for getting the aileron wires and light wires down through the pylon into the fuselage. Tight space for big fingers. Also, the receiver was glued to the fuselage, and I couldn't find where to plug in a bind plug. After spending 15-20 minutes removing the receiver I found that there was no place to plug in a bind plug, so I tried binding without one. Guess what. It worked! The angle of the control rod for the elevator is too severe. When I operate the elevator, the entire stabilizer moves. This is more pronounced when the elevator is moved up. Now I'm waiting on a good day to take her out.

It was finally delivered 5-8-18 in the PM. Have some things to finish before the jumping into a great build!
Received everything. Spent about 4 hours bulding it, and can't wait to try it. Seems strang though that the elevator, because of the thin control rod, bends. So the elevator on the port side moves more than the one on starboard side. Other than that, looks solid.
So the first flight didn't end well but it was an easy fix so it is good quality and cheep replacement parts, I love it

great plane and great service from Motion RC !! Would def buy again !
