Dynam PBY Catalina Grey with Gyro 1470mm (58") Wingspan - (Ready-To-Fly) - RTF - DY8943RTF-GREY

This is the new Stabilized Ready-To-Fly version. This model comes with the Detrum MSR66A 6CH 2.4Ghz Mini Receiver with iStone 6-Axis Gyro/ABS built in for auto-stabilization and recovery.  For more information on the MSR66A click here.

The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American flying boat, and later an amphibious aircraft of the 1930s and 1940s produced by Consolidated Aircraft. It was one of the most widely used seaplanes of World War II. Catalinas served with every branch of the United States Armed Forces and in the air forces and navies of many other nations.

During World War II, PBYs were used in anti-submarine warfare, patrol bombing, convoy escorts, search and rescue missions (especially air-sea rescue), and cargo transport. The PBY was the most numerous aircraft of its kind and the last active military PBYs were not retired from service until the 1980s. Even today, nearly 80 years after its first flight, the aircraft continues to fly as a waterbomber (or airtanker) in aerial firefighting operations all over the world.

Months of flight testing and design from Dynam yield an aircraft that is very stable and capable of maintaining flight at slow speeds that allow novices to master flight mechanics with ease. High quality scale detail and a nice large 1.4m wingspan make this an attention-grabbing model. Made from a high strength EPO-foam for added durability. Powered by twin 1100KV electric brushless motors. Included is a GAVIN-6A 6-Channel 2.4GHz Transmitter, Detrum MSR66A 6-Channel 2.4Ghz Mini Receiver with iStone 6-Axis Gyro/ABS3S 11.1V 2200 mAh LiPo battery so after the build you will be ready for water-based sorties and patrols!

  • November 8, 2014 - You have to solder on your own connector in order to Y-harness the lights into another channel or nearby servo. Also for the RTF version make sure the included Detrum receiver/gyro is securely mounted to the fuselage before attempting to fly this airplane.

PBY Catalina

Had to work through some issues due to quality control. 1. Fuselage appears warped. Tail is not parallel with wing 2. Broken antenna on transmitter 3. Warped propeller. Thought shaft was bent. 4. Lousy instructions. Took a lot of figuring and YouTube tips. MotionRc replaced prop and offered to replace transmitter. I haven’t flown it yet so I don’t know if the antenna is a problem yet.

My first aileron model.....Dynam PBY 'grey cat'

A++ great **** for the buck...love the upgraded 7 channel Detrum Gavin transmitter combo that was included. Giant leap from the original. 10 min run time on included lipo. Plenty of power....put it this way, at full throttle....she literally sings. Seriously love my Cat. Stop thinking about it, and just get the bloody thing. You will thank yourself. Intermediate only, this is not a first plane for the average noobie.
