This cowl was a replacement part should I have need to replace the cowl of my Tiger Moth. I still have to paint it black as that was the colour of the cowl on the Tiger Moths used by the RCAF during the second world war and for Tiger Moths used by the BCATP.
Tiger Moth cowl
It fits, it seems stronger than the original, but the color is several shades off.
Pleasure to deal with
Fast shipping, item is exactly as described. Will buy from Motion RC again.
Very Thin Cowl
I broke 2 of them already by just minor nose over. Dynam should make this cowl much thicker so that it won't break with minor nose over landing. I'm still waiting for it have it in stock for several months. My plane looks ugly flying it without the cowl. It needs improvement.
Rating would be better if plastic was thicker. or more flexible (or both) Been through 2 also. These have the bottom front shatter on any minor nose-over. (which really shouldn't even scratch it...) Repaired the 2nd, but its ugly, however I found the way to strengthen these now. Get E-6000 craft glue (clear preferred, it comes in black too) Smear a thin layer inside the cowl's fragile lower front areas. (you know where because you broke one already) Let that dry. Apply 3 coats. DONE. My repaired cowl (badly cracked, taped the outside then smeared the glue inside, then removed the tape) has survived several more nose-overs without any further sign of damage. But its ugly.... ******** Added 3 axis gyro about equal to "Eagle A3-L 3 Axis Airplane Gyro" and turn it on just as wheels touch. No more nose-over on landing. Only bad habit this model has... I need 2! I have an old "GeeBee" brand kit (discontinued years ago) Tiger Moth that needs a cowl and this fits!
Egg Shell Cowl
Been through two. Back ordered for more. The landing gear of this plane is set back close the center of gravity, so it tends to nose over on landing causing cracking of the cowl.. Keep your duct tape handy.
This is a perfect fit for my balsa/ply ARF Tiger Moth.
