EFLA1140W 40A ESC in an E-flite 1.2M Spitfire
Although it's not mentioned in the "OVERVIEW" section of the description, this 40A ESC also comes in the E-Flite 1.2M Spitfire. The Spitfire recommendation for batteries is for 3S 2200mAh LiPos. The ESC runs hot using the recommended battery. After a flight, you can feel the heat through the battery tray. I'm not sure why that is. It could be because of the restricted ESC bay and a lack of airflow, or the demands placed on the ESC by the 5-blade Spitfire prop. Static test on a 3S LiPo is 37amps and 434watts on a stock 5-blade prop. That's close to the rating of 40A. In the air and unloaded it should be less but the ESC still comes down hot.
ESC Alternate use
I upgraded my old Parkzone Corsair with an Eflite BL10 Outrunner motor that needed a 40 amp ESC. Since the original esc was only a 30 amp I needed a 40 amp ESC so I installed this ESC and wow, she really scoots along now. I should of upgraded years ago. I have unlimited vertical.
