44" Wingspan E-flite PT-17 BNF Basic with AS3X - Bind-N-Fly (BNF) - EFL3350
It's hard to replicate the feeling of nostalgia when flying a classic bi-plane like the iconic PT-17. E-flite has done a terrific job of capturing the scale details in this 44" wingspan model. From the scale 7-radial dummy engine with detailed ignition and exhaust, to the ribbing throughout, in the bold yellow Navy paint scheme, this bi-plane will get all the looks at your flying field.
The aluminum struts are shock-absorbing to add authenticity and support to your landings and grass takeoff rolls. The wing mounting system is a tool-free quick release setup so bringing your PT-17 to and from the field has never been easier. With the 15-sized brushless motor and a battery tray offering ample room for a host of differently sized 3 Cell (3S) batteries, this PT-17 has plenty of power for sport aerobatics.
- Outstanding Scale Detail - The 7-radial dummy engine is full of scale details and the panel lines, ribbing and shock-absorbing struts really sets this model apart
- Stabilizing Receiver - This BNF version comes with a Spektrum AR636A Receiver with AS3X and SAFE Technologies to help promote a safe flight every time
- US Navy Paint Scheme - The yellow livery is bold, easy to see and attractive with the perfect touch of nostalgia
- Quick Assembly - There are only six screws in the box to assemble the PT-17. With the quick-release tool-free wing mounting system, assembly is a breeze
- Outstanding Power - Included is a 15-size brushless motor and 40 amp ESC when combined with your 3 Cell LiPo, has terrific thrust and power for those sport maneuvers

I haven’t gotten to fly it yet due to weather and I also haven’t flown in several months so I want to fly another model before I maiden this bird. The build went well minus one of the pins that holds the top wing to the strut. Still can’t get that to work but I think I just need another person to help manipulate it. Can’t wait to fly it!
First one wasn't assembled right
A must have Bi-plane
What a sweet plane, been flying bipes for many years, at 65 wanted a bipe to just enjoy, had pitts, ulta high 3-Ds and so on, but this plane is a dream. An easy crusier, yet throttle up and it will do it all,, flats, inverted, spins you name it. Easy build, everything goes together perfectly. It is tail heavy, put two once lead fishing weight up against the fire wall under the battery, and using a admerial 3300 3s pushed all the way up, balance is perfect, no trim adjustments needed, flies level, no prob. Get one and you will love it. OH I fly om a very rocky desert area and those shocks are a dream, just plows right through them!!!
This plane came with a landing gear that broke during assembly. The Rx won t bind in Safe mode. The clevis on the elevator broke when I tried to adjust it. It has the clear plastic ones that always break with adjustment, the pins bend and are unuseable. Replaced with Park Zone ones that work. Gear was replaced and am waiting to hear about the Rx
Follow assembly carefully. There are some build issues. You have to spread or compress the gear to make it fit. Had to center all of the control surfaces. Set the rates and install a 3300 battery and she will balance perfect. Maiden flight flawless, with minimal trim adjustments. At first I was worried as some of the reviews were not good and saying the plane is extremely tail heavy and nose weight is needed. Not the case. Like I said with a 3300 3s she balanced perfect.
Honey, I shrunk the Stearman!
Eflite has raised the bar on scale details and faithfully duplicating the Stearman's classic "persona". The engine is an injected plastic work of art. The sad thing is that many owners have reported that several of the spark plugs and wires were broken off in shipping, as the foam packaging is good but doesn't protect the delicate engine very well. I removed the remaining plugs and wires and replaced them with tubing and copper wire and painted the engine for more visual appeal, and added an exhaust collector with some airbrushed exhaust staining. The paint and markings are excellent, as are the operating shock absorbing main landing gear. The instructions are done in REAL English, and clearly describe the assembly and setup process. Getting the CG right is an exercise in frustration, and with the recommended 3S-2200 LiPo, I needed to add 2 ounces of bird shot to the empty engine cylinders to get it to balance, a common compliant of many owners. I will likely look at removing the bird shot and using a 3600+ mah battery that will add 2-3 ounces of useful weight. Assembly is a bit fiddly, but with patience and shaving the lower wing strut attachments to fit their receptacles, and carefully aligning the upper ends of the struts for the long pin that holds them in place, the final result is a tightly assembled model.
I saw a video on YouTube, the guy was saying he put a foam spacer on the battery slide to get the battery further forward to get the needed CG without adding weight, works great. I also added a piece of plastic just behind the elevator servo because the elevator wire was bending. Everything else is great.
I love this aircraft. My only complaint is the fact that I had to add a large amount of nose wiegst out if the box, tail heavy indeed. But it has PLENTY of lift and even with a battery’s worth of weights it still climbs at 40% throttle. Fly smooth and does very well in constant winds, I fly it at the beach. I bought it for college, couldn’t take my collection with me. The lack of maintance and easy flying with scale detail makes it very inexpensive time wise. Great choice.
This is an excellent PT-17. Very high quality, precise parts fit and very nice painted finish. It is a perfect size- small enough to transport easily but big enough to be very stable in light to moderate winds, particularly with the included AS3X system. The top wing can be removed by simply removing four pins if necessary. Very easy to bind and setup with a Spectrum transmitter. This is a great airplane. I liked it so much that I bought two.
