The E-flite UMX™ Whipit™ DLG model is a breakthrough in sailplane design. This ultra micro glider features carbon fiber for strength, a removable wing and a simple two-channel Spektrum™ DSMX control system.
The folks at Motion RC are always looking for fun, new platforms for enjoying the joy of flight in all of its many forms. The E-flite UMX™ Whipit™ DLG is a sailplane that combines convenience and affordability so that the fun of pure flight is possible to enjoy regardless of experience level. Like the high-performance discus-launch gliders (DLG) popular in competition, this ultra micro aircraft features ultra-lightweight construction with carbon fiber for strength. But it’s also simple like that free flight chuck glider we played with as kids, only now we’ve made it radio controlled.
The wing is removable for easy storage and is reinforced for right or left handed launches. A protective pod cover on the nose easily reveals the simple two-channel Spektrum™ DSMX control system and battery compartment. With just a single 150mAh 1S Li-Po battery you can expect long flight times either in your backyard, a local park or just about anywhere you want to harness the power of nature.

Sweet Little DLG!!!
I LOVE THIS LITTLE MODEL! Where to begin? The model is wonderfully engineered. Perfectly CG's with the suggested 150milli amp Lipo, which last for hours. Flies in the lightest of lift. EASY to launch. So light it doesn't really carry enough inertia to be damaged by most crashes, yet enough wing loading to FLY well. And for the price..? You'll be hard pressed to find the bang for the buck factor this glider gives - buy it, you won't be sorry!
Great Fun! Simple Plane.
My son purchased this for his enjoyment... the first one we received had a DoA rudder servo and after working with Motion / Horizon a new airplane was shipped to replace the defective one. The 2nd plane arrived with no issue and Motion / Horizon were both good to work with on the replacement. We have found that ours seems to fly best if we put a penny in the nose cone to balance the plane a little more nose heavy. Great flying plane that is tons of fun!
Excellent way to start flying RC model airplanes for any age! Very durable flyer! Even a 6 years old child can have fun...
I say Whipit....Whipit Good!
Good DLG for its size and construction...very light and stable in flight. A bit tough to get enough altitude to catch thermals but fun trying. I bought this one mainly to fly along the dune line at my local beach when the winds are onshore at 8-10 mph and I am expecting it to "slope soar" with the seagulls. 'Still waiting for the right day and conditions.
The Whipit is great fun and a good way to first begin with Hand Launched Gliders. There is a lot more skill to this than meets the eye, which serves to make it even more fun. A 30 second flight, for a beginner, is very rewarding. It's funny - every time it lands there is a terrific urge to pick it up and throw it again! It is rather frail and doesn't like diving to earth on its nose, which bad launches can cause, but a little Foam-Tac and it's good as new.
What a joyful little bird.....compact and easy to transport... What a lot of fun...Very little to do to get her ready for flight..She flys fantastic....I just need to find those elusive thermals...I would recommend it to anyone...
