Very good replacement motor for my FMS 540
Replacement motor on new plane.
Motor went bad after 2 flights. New motor seems ok after 18 flights. Motion RC replaced the first motor in 2 days great service.
I have an older FMS Yak 54 and the stock motor went bad. It had noisy bearings from the beginning. This replacement motor has been much smoother and quieter. Enough power for vertical climbs out of sight. It is a good value!
Good value lots of power
I had to many hard landings and broken props before I bent the motor shaft. Bought a replacement, installed it and when I flew my SBACH 342 it flew great. With the amount of power you get and the price you can't ask for more. Motion RC sells some great products.
I am useing this motor in my Great Planes balsa /ply Edge 540. It should really be hot! The D10or
Powerful, high efficient motor
This motor is very powerful for a 1400mm plane weights 4 lbs or lighter. High efficiency: bigger trust for a fewer mAh consumed. The shaft/adaptor is so soft and easy to be bent, but will prevent from damaging other more expensive parts. I replaced the stock 4-blade propeller to a generic APC 13x8 two-blade: much more power to do a vertical climb, over 1.4 Thrust/Weight ratio.
Get more power
I have not had any problems with the bearing on this motor after thirty flights, but I do agree the motor is under powered with the 3-bladed prop. I replaced the stock prop with an APC 14X7.5 two bladed prop for $4.00. The airplane came to life at that moment. Acceleration and top end speed were plentiful. You have to cut the existing shaft some so it can be fitted with a prop adapter...a little bit of work but well worth it.
Be Careful !!
I had purchased this motor as part of the FMS Extra 300 last 12ember as a Christmas gift. I did not put it together until the end of June given the weather in the Midwest. From the first flight there was a pretty loud noise coming from the motor. Many of my club members commented. It flew fine, just very noisy. After the second flight I found a screw loose that had fallen out of the motor mount. Took all screws out and lock-tited them in. After 2 more flights, 2 more screws fell out. Called Motion. Everyone agreed that the rear bearing was bad causing severe vibration. Came from the factory that way. Since it was 6-7 months after purchasing, they could do nothing for replacement. I totally understand this. But, since, I have talked to 2 other club members who had the same problem with this motor from the factory. The replacement seems fine though. If you purchase a FMS plane with any motor, be sure to check it out immediately, otherwise you may get stuck with a dog like I did. Final lesson, don't buy a plane at Christmas you aren't going to fly till spring or summer!
Like the aircraft, power supply leaves the pilot wanting!
Upon receipt of the electric version of the Sbach 342, I was quite pleased. Inspection of the product really had me enthused! The aircraft is very appealing to the eye and should be received as such by the pilot doing the purchasing. The flight performance of this aircraft is disappointing. The 760KV motor (supplied) causes the aircraft to be extremely underpowered. With this "motor" the aircraft will perform at minimum expectations. Several flights into the evaluation of the Sbach, the motor failed. Many thanks to MotionRC for they readily replaced the electrical motor at no charge. It is customer service such as this that satisfies the patrons and guarantees return business. I did receive a new motor replacement, at no charge, which runs well. Though the Sbach has a new motor, the aircraft is still under powered. MotionRC is very customer oriented and continues to guarantee the future patronage of its customers. Very pleased with their customer service.......George B.
