Just bought my 4th motor
So, I have purchased 4 of these motors. Below are my initial comments. As such I have spent $220 (give or take) on these and wonder if buying a similar Hacker, or other, might be cheaper in the long run. I keep a spare motor for issues that might arise. I fly competition pattern in Masters and run the motor almost daily from February thru June. My last motor had a magnet come lose, I think from flying in 90 degree temperatures. This caused too much current and the FMS ESC shut down. Was able to land fine but changed out the motor a week before the Arvada CO pattern contest. Glad I had a backup. Anyway my rating is now a 3 of 5 stars. i have a new motor in the plane and a new backup so I should be good for 2 more years.
I purchased this motor to upgrade my fms p-51b Dallas Darling. The 6s power system has gobs more power and makes the p-51 fly as it should. Highly recommended this motor for any with a fms 1450mm p-51. No more worries of falling out in turns, or power to pull out, gives fantastic vertical climb as well.
2nd motor just failed - changing my review below..
I wrote below... "A year in use - still working ok. After a year flying the Masters pattern with this motor it's held up well. there is a slight wobble from the bearings getting loser, but it's slight and I'm still using the original motor. I have purchased a 2nd one for my new plane. I don't think you will be disappointed." Today I had my second motor fail - a winding shorted (or similar) in the motor. This happened in the air while flying. I thought it was the Speed controller (FMS) but it was the motor. I removed the motor from the plane and saw a winding sticking up thru the motor housing. While this motor is decent for the price, don't expect too much quality. I pull 55A using a 70A ESC (FMS) and this motor - so I'm pretty easy on the motor and ESC. The first motor I had the front bearing went bad after a short time - the front of the spinner was wobbling. Just understand for the price, this motor may not last much over a year. I have 3 of these motors and 2 have gone bad. I would post pictures but not sure I can do this - can't figure out how ??

Great motor !!!
I put it in a 60" span Pilatus Porter 06 and am powering it with a 6 cell / 3600 pack. Able to do great verticals yet can slow her down to a crawl when you want to. Been getting over 10 minute flights consistently. I highly recommend this brute !!!
Verdict is still out
I am rooting (hoping) for this little motor. I first saw this motor on the FMS Olympic. I not have it on a 50 (similar) size Angel Shadow. I bought the motor and ESC specifically for the AS model. The motor I bought developed bearing problems within 30 flights. I could wiggle the shaft and hear a click, click, click. Motion RC replaced the motor with little hassle - very good customer service. I will be flying this motor and ESC in Pattern competition and need reliable products. I am hoping the replacement motor works for a long time or I'll need to fine a bearing manufacturer or another motor. I designed the internal placement of components (servos and battery) for the weight of this motor so I really don't want to replace it with a heavier motor of similar size. My fingers are crossed - but so far so good on the new motor with about 25 flights on it. I rate this motor a 3 based on the first one that needed replacement and the lack of flights on the replacement motor. At the end of summer I will visit this post again and see if I can alter my rating. I hope to give it 5 stars!
Good substitute motor for FMS 1400 P-51
I replaced the OEM motor with this after seeing what some of the other guys on RGC had done. It seems to be a very good fit with a few minor modifications. I fly mine on 5S and it performs great. I got the performance I was looking for and so far it has been a great success. No ****** speed but plenty of vertical and great torque.
Comes standard on the FMS Olympus F3A airplane. Works very well pulling the 5.3 lb plane with just about unlimited vertical. I use a 6S 4000 mAh pack and a 15x8 APC thin electric propeller. Also works just as well (if not better) with a 5S 4000 mAh pack and a 15x10 APC thin electric. Can't beat the price, either.
I bought this motor for my 1400mm p-51 by FMS, and what a great deal and super upgrade for not much money. Really brought my plane to life running a 6s battery!!!!
