Well the build was easy I wish other of my planes were that easy. Took her up on the Maiden Flight this morning OMG ROCKET SHIP! but after pulling back on throttle a bit she flys so smooth and very forgiving. i put her through the paces she took everything I through at her and more. My new best Plane hands down, if you don't have one get one. So I'm changing the score from 4* to 5* thanks Motion RC!!!!! and FMS!
Well i have been eyeballing this plane. Went to my buddy's house today looked over his asked lots of ?????? seems like I hope the motor mount is fixed he and about 10 others have this plane all said that problem is fixed so ordered mine today so we will see for now I'm giving 4 stars will give more feedback after build and flight. Thanks Motion RC. PS my FMS 1400 BF 109 Rock & Rolls Love it. with the Gyro!
I have had mine for some time now and the only bad thing that happened so far is the plastic motor mount wasn't glued in to well and it came loose and I almost lost the plane and yes the motor bracket was on backwards too. I agree on the other reviews that the landing gears needs to be out more the plane will not land on grass or take off like it says it will without always tipping over and braking props and does need shock system like the other FMS planes are getting. YES I agree with one of the reviews this plane NEEDS an upgrade I would buy it if they did. FMS if you read this please get an upgrade on this nice plane. over all this is a great flying plane.
I cannot say enough GOOD things about this bird. It could be the single best foam warbird ever created. It can handle anything you can handle. Dead calm sure of course. 20mph headwind NO PROBLEM. The only flaw in this bird is the metal motor mount is stamped backward. This means the motor points up and the left. I have no Idea if FMS ever fixed this issue but it is a easy fix. It flies like a swallow and is deadly in the skies. Landings are soft and controlled.
This plane is a great flyer, the only problem I had was week landing gear but the guys at motion rc took care of it with no problem. Thanks brad. I put a bomb drop from dymond usa. on mine and it works great.
TRY 5S 2800 MAH ,YOU WILL LOVE THE POWER , LOVE IT
Assembled my zero the day after I received it. Found the motor mount installed wrong with backwards thrust angle. Tried to reverse it myself but found motor mount screw heads stripped. Also the firewall was loose from the foam. Been waiting over a week for final resolution by motion rc to get a replacement fuse/motor mount and glued on tail feathers (after emailing multiple pics). Could use a little faster sense of urgency to get this pkane in the air. The plane is beautiful and otherwise looks to be of good quality, but for the price, the QC at the factory should have been better.
Just recieved this a few days ago to replace one that I sold over a year ago. Past experience with this plane and it's flight charactics was very pleasurable. However, with this one from FMS I was a bit disapointed with the build. On inspection I noticed the the Motor mount was installed 180 degrees backwards giving the plane the wrong thrust angle, easily fixed though. Also there has still been no provisions to use a screw mount method to secure the horizontal and vertical stabs (which still require you to permenantly glue them on) to facilitate easy removal and replacemeent in the event of a mishap, as many of the other FMS planes provide for. The canopy was glued on the hatch cover misaligned and required it to be removed and reattached correctly. This is the reason I only give this 4 star rating. On a positive note: this plane flys superbly and is a joy in the air and has no bad habbits. it could use a little more forward rake on the LG and needs to be updated to change the mounting method of the Horizontal and Vertical stabs for easy parts replacement. It would also be nice to see the incorporation of working oleo struts as many of the other FMS planes since it's the same price. This plane is a bit over priced for what it comes with as compared to many of the other FMS planes such as the P-51's both B & D versions. This plane is due for a new revision and new feature enhancements. Over all I really enjoy this plane and handles great on both grass, and hard runways with terific well behaved performance in the air
I really like my Zero and don't have any major complaints, but as with any pre-built foamy, inspect, inspect, inspect! The plastic motor mount is glued to the foam airframe with subpar adhesive. Keep and eye on this, as in time it is almost guaranteed to break loose. It's a fairly easy fix. I unscrewed the metal motor mount with motor and held it out of the way with some tape. Then I secured the plastic motor mount in position with some masking tape and used a long piece of thin carbon fiber rod to apply a fillet of Gorilla Glue around the perimeter of the plastic motor mount to the foam airframe. Let it cure completely before reattaching the motor.
