Great Set of floats However... Water is a problem.
Floats are great, when there are not water issues... Twice now, The ****** has crashed due to water issues and the servos in the floats. Once was because the rudder stuck on take off, opened it up, servo was filled with water. Second time was either the new Admiral Receiver or water in the floats. Came in for landing, all the lights went out and came back on a second later total loss of control and nose dived into the water. Opened floats up.. a TON of water in the still "sealed" compartment. I cant 100% say if it was the water in the servo causing electrical problems or the new receiver. But I have battled water issues with the servo in the floats the entire time. I love the plane and I love flying it on the water, so I have to deal with it. However, the floats have directly or indirectly caused enough damage to the plane that I cant give them a good review. With all that said, I am probably ordering another pair. Because I cant fly the awesome plane on the water without them.
Great Looking Floats!
I’d ordered the floats for the FMS ******. Unboxed them. They were well packed with no damage at all. I haven’t had a chance to put them together but anxious to try them out at a float fly in September. I only ranked them average for assembly and performance since haven’t done that yet. I’ll modify my review after the float fly.
Have to go with a lower rating on these as the internal water rudder servo was DOA. I contacted Motion and as usual they were lighting fast with a response. Unfortunately they couldn't help me and related I had to go through Horizon for a fix. I would rather chew on a spider than deal with Horizon so I just improvised a repair. I ordered a waterproof servo and sunk it in top of the float, sealed it with silicone and ran a direct link back to the rudder. Had to do a slight modification to the rudder to make this happen but now everything works as it should. Haven't flown off of water yet but I have many flights on the gear. This is a wonderful airplane!
no instructions on where to plug the ruder servo and the screws are easy to strip out
Excellent flying plane, great price ,and as usual ,Motion got it too me faster than a speeding bullet. Would have liked to have the black sections been glossy,(cleans up easier, and doesnt show fingerprints).Joe Raines
