1400mm FMS F4U-4 Corsair Version 3 in Navy Blue Color Scheme - Receiver Ready (PNP) - FMS024
This FMS Corsair V3 is a huge upgrade over the prior version. This version includes upgrades such as triple flaps, landing lights, and a much larger battery compartment. This is one of the best looking most detailed Corsair models we've found. The new retracts are a HUGE improvement over the old version of the retract. This set has complete metal trunnions, metal jack screw, metal stops on either side of the retract, and a thick and rugged plastic housing.FMS
The micro switch is under the jack screw and trunnion as opposed to the old design where a hard landing could break the micro switch. This design includes channels to stop the trunnion from moving so it physically cannot move any farther during landing. We find these retracts to be a HUGE improvement over the old retracts. These retracts also operate at 1/2 the speed of the prior version so they open and close at a much more scale speed (about 6 seconds to open, 6 seconds to close). There is plenty of power from the upgraded motor in this FMS Corsair. We find the stock landing gear is up to the task of a grass field but Dave Brown tires are a nice upgrade for extra shock absorption.
What are the upgrades and differences between the 1400mm FMS Corsair V2 and 1400mm FMS Corsair V3
The first thing FMS did was enlarge the Corsair V3 battery hatch to make access much easier for many different LiPo battery sizes. The FMS Corsair V3 also now has scale 3 panel operational flaps which did not exist on the V2. V3 also has navigation and landing lights which were not present on V2. In addition FMS really enhanced the scale details on the FMS Corsair V3. This includes little details such as an aerial mast and antenna in addition to large details like a scale full width horizontal stabilizer.
The FMS Corsair V3 also has a massively improved prop nut with a metal threaded insert as opposed to the all plastic in the version 2. The new V3 cowl is much improved. It is made of tough plastic and can easily be removed for servicing or upgrading the motor. The new tail wheel on the FMS Corsair Version 3 is not only much more detailed but it is also driven by the rudder servo. The V2 tail wheel was driven by its own servo which was prone to failure. This issue has been addressed and solved. The landing gear doors are now made of a thicker more resilient nylon while the old V2 doors were made of a thinner brittle plastic. Lastly the V3 includes scale rockets and drop tanks which are easy to add and removable if you want less drag or more scale.

FMS F4U CORSAIR
I haven’t flown the plane yet so cannot comment on flight performance. Build was simple, no instructions really needed. The only nit pick I have is with the bottom fit of the two wing halves. The plastic straps fit perfectly and the screws went in as intended. There exists however a gap from the halves not mating up flush with each other
I have been waiting several years to buy this bird because I wanted to be skilled enough to fly her without damaging her. The description says it is a 3rd generation production with lots of improvements. Well, the first two must have been real pieces of **** because this one leaves much to be desired. First let me say this is a beautiful plane, no complaints there. However, after a few landings the rear wheel broke off. Then the replacement broke off. I thought the main gear would be something special but they are pretty standard for this size plane (cool delays). When flying at high speeds it would not handle well. When trying to do a loop or just climb it would keep turning out of it. After several flights I noticed the wings were flexing unevenly. I checked them over very carefully and could not find any cracks or defects of any kind. I tightened the mounting hardware but to no avail. I was going to try another wing but lost all control during the last flight (wing? electronics?) and damaged every major part. I don't think I will be replacing her anytime soon so I'm glad I have an AT-6 to fly in the mean time. My AT-6 can fly circles around this Corsair (handling not speed) and is a joy to fly.
Very nice plane love the color. Directions leave a lot to be desired but well worth the trouble.
Received the plane in excellent condition, after the build, went to the field where myself and so expert flying made a few adjustment on the landing gear, toe in, and adjusted the control surfaces, set my High Rates to 100% low rates to 75%. I was not going to fly it but do a taxi test but after a few minutes, I felt the aircraft was ready to fly, so off we went and believe me it flew like a dream, the aircraft tracked down the runway with just light touch on the rudder and 1 notch of flap input and it just took off and climb out flawlessly, I used an admiral 3000 battery and flew for 5 minutes before landing. My approach was smooth and it touched down with no flaps and settled on the runway. I never used high rates on the maiden but will try high rates on the next flight. Very stable airplane. This is my third corsair, and it by far is a winner.
not for novice flyers
i see some reviews on here that state this warbird is an easy flyer... heres the real truth,,, this is to scale of a very out of date warbird and it has the same characteristic, very heavy on the nose and you have to fly above half throttle just to keep it in the air. i prefer full throttle with mine. i would suggest to non experts to go with maybe a mustang or maybe even stick to high wings or mid wings .. good luck and have fun...
FMS 1400mm CORSAIR, MID CENTURY BLUE ANGEL
If you are looking for a beautiful, big, electric scale warbird look no further than this beautiful plane. It is very well mannered, easy to fly, and surprising easy to land (for a warbird, 1/2 flaps is my preferred method with a little throttle). I added 1/2 oz of weight to the tail to get the specified CG perthe manual. It took a little adjustment to the elevators to zero-out trimming. Very stately and authoritative in the air. You'll love it, but one and fly it early and often!!
