Fly's as easy as a trainer but hit the throttle and its a missile. Also amazes people that someone made an Airacobra! Just remember to use your flaps on the first setting for landing and keep the throttle on a little for lift as you come down. I didn't and it stalled and dropped a wing at about four feet off the deck. Cartwheeled and snapped the fuselage off right behind the canopy. Glued it back with the foam glue and flew it the next day. Its Awesome.
P-39 Airacobra "Hells Bells"
This little speedster is a blast to fly! The sound of the motor pushing the plane up to over 100 mph is fantastic. The camo job is fantastic, I might even add the historically accurate 7.62mm machine guns in the wings just to spice up the look. This plane got a lot of attention from my fellow fliers at the airfield! Definitely a 10/10 from me.
"Well, Hells Bells"
Pro's Tricycle Gear ! The best foamie warbird on the market
The aircraft performs out of the box w/ very little need for trimming. The P-39 flies straight & true, I was very impressed w/ the speed & how slow the airplane can fly for landings. No bad flight characteristics, the tricycle gear unique to scale airplanes of this era are unbeatable for ground control, the retracts are solid & will last you a very long time. I got my P-39 to fly clocked in w/ a GPS @ 123mph; this is stock w/ an admiral 2200 4s & the stock 3-blade prop, I will definitely get this plane to fly faster. The airplane looks incredibly beautiful, flies very well, has a wide flight envelope, an overall excellent warbird!
Great model. The P-39 has always been a favorite of mine. My only problem was a stripped flap servo which you promptly replaced.
Not the rocket I was looking for
You can't beat the fit and finish on this great looking and seldom modeled P-39. What a beaut! It takes off and lands like a charm, and flies straight and true. It's small and dark and will get out of sight quick, but you should know that going in. It's not quite as fast as I was expecting -- likely because I've kept the stock prop. Switching to 2-blade would likely change everything. Note that although it tracks beautifully, it will stall badly and drop out of the sky with no warning at slower speeds so be careful!! This is not a beginner's warbird!
Awesome plane and value, tracks like a pattern ship. I have the Strega as well, and found it to have centering problems with the elevator pushrod setup. the new servo layout with the included ball links works great. Love the looks and sound, and surprisingly quick right out of the box. Only small issue I found was that one of the gun covers on the nose had come off in the box and marred the paint by the nose, but easily fixed. I love this whole series :)
Nice & Fast
If you like fast models, you won't go wrong with this one. It is as smooth as silk. I use the admiral 2200 4s battery in my model. Highly recommend.
Both models are very complete
