This plane takes off easily, flies beautifully, and destroys landing gear when trying to land. At $30 a pop, it's cost me $90 replacing shattered landing gear!!! Guess how many landings?
I won't start this build until the winter puts the quietus to my winter flying. I have examined the kit and it appears to be up to the usual FMS high standards. I'll let you know about it's flyability next spring.
Every part fit perfect. Two hours build (Taking my time) Delivery was very fast.Great company to deal with. Will maiden when weather gets better.
This is a great model, but be sure and secure the set screws holding on the LG struts (as well as the Philips head screw holding the oleo strut together) before you fly it. I had a strut fall off on my second landing because the set screw had completely backed out and fallen out. Fortunately, my plane was not damaged, but it could have been a disaster. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the model -- flies great, looks great, scale LG with sequenced gear doors is superb and amazing at this price.
I have been a scale builder for some time but as time has gone so did my time available to build, work took it's place. Since they brought out the EPO foam planes it has kept my interest going so I wouldn't lose the interest in R/C flying. Since I am friends With the original pilot of GUNFIGHTER, I had to have this plane. Now, before I go further I have to say I have not flown the P51 yet, but I did want write about how I mad GUNFIGHTER look more realistic. The exhausts come as plain black plastic, so I took Silver paint and painted the shrouds then I used the color steel to paint the exhaust tubes. There isn't a huge difference in the colors but enough to see a difference and brings out the more scale appearance in the exhaust area. I also removed the pilot and changed him a bit. He comes with a black helmet, so I repainted his helmet with brown, I didn't go all out on this detail making it have a worn look but it did improve the appearance a lot. I'm not saying the original is all that bad, just me having to do better on things important to me. Since GUNFIGHTER was never an actual WWII paint scheme, it is an airshow type paint and weathering wouldn't work with this airplane in the real sense, however that don't mean I'm done with it, just sitting back and seeing where I can improve(my standard) in other areas ! :) I can't wait to get it out to the field and I know how some of the reactions are going to be with the other fellas, just a great looking airplane.
Got excellent delivery from MRC - package arrived with no damage assembled easily. Everything worked great, the wing connectors really helped with the build. The landing gear & doors work flawlessly. The one problem I had was that the motor ran full on with transmitter stick off, this was fixed by reversing the throttle servo. Paint job by FMS looks very good and the plane appears to be true scale. Have not flown yet due to the weather. Thanks Motion RC
Tha guys at motion are the best in the business. This airplane is a great performer. The plane arrived in perfect condition. If you like warbirds, and want one that performs well, this one is it . Power to weight ratio is good for scale flying. The retract system is one of the best I've seen and works every time. This plane handles grass fields very well. I would recomend this plane to all my flying buddies. I have also recommended motion RC to everyone I know that flys RC . There personal touch with there service cannot be beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MOTIONRC rates a 10 out of 10 on this FMS P51. I have owned many r/c Mustangs and this is the best one yet! Your service, delivery and packaging are exceptional and I highly recommend you to all my flying buddies! Thank you
My first review was right after I received and stupidly put it in the ground, totally my fault. The impact was straight in at 40+mph. $94 in parts and she was back in the air. I now have 60+ flights on her and she handles perfectly. If you like truly scale flying, this should be your number one choice. No bad habits and lands like a dream with 1/4 throttle. Way to go FMS and Motion RC. BTW excellent part replacement and fast shipping to boot.
