FMS 1450mm P-51D Mustang V8 Ridge Runner Receiver Ready (PNP) - FMS008RR
This latest version of the FMS P51D Mustang Version 8 has the most scale detail and most refined features of nearly any EPO foam RC plane on the market. Since this is the 7th version of the FMS P-51D, the attention to detail and quality is simply amazing. The ailerons and elevator feature 17g servos and the servoless e-retracts feature metal trunnions for extra durability. The landing gear struts on the FMS P51D are all metal and shock absorbing. The large tires and shock absorbing struts allow for easy flight from a grass field and also help to take the force out of an occasional hard landing. The flaps on the FMS P51 feature an extra slow moving servo for scale detail. The inner and outer landing gear doors open and close using a sequencer to allow for the most detailed landing gear ever seen on an FMS P-51 Mustang. In addition to all the features, the FMS P-51 is simply an amazing flyer. The latest version features an upgraded motor for more power to pull scale acrobatic maneuvers. This is simply one of the best foam planes around.

I have had this plane for 3 months. Finally put the maiden on it today. Had to wait for snow to melt. This P51 looks great in the air, and flies awesome. 2 clicks of left on the ailerons was all it needed. Balanced by the book on a 3200ma 4 cell. Take off 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and some right rudder. Made 3 landings on grass, and the retracts were rock solid. Thank you Motion RC for offering this bird.
A P-51 RC plane that looks like a P-51!!!
Everything looked and worked OK right out of the box!!!....had to do the obligatory filing of the landing gear pin to get the wheels tracking straight....other than that....Top notch!!!!!!!!!
Problem with wiring
Great looking plane, cant wait to get out flying with it, however the wiring is giving me a headache. Pages 47.48.49 and 50 are missing from the manual. The plugs were not labeled. there is a green plug to the sequencer, but not the type the wing plugs would plug into. There is a black and white plug with two short leads and two longer ones, this was in a packet, I think this is the one the wing plugs should plug into. Still trying to figure out what to do with the GREEN plug.
Assembling and Flying the FMS P-51
Just a gorgeous plane and fun to put together. This is the fifth one of various versions at the field where I fly, the old El Toro Marine Air base. Arrived in perfect condition, instructions were straight forward. But it is a complex aircraft and it does need maintenance. I too noticed after several flights that screws were missing from the landing gear. Tighten everything carefully, and inspect often. Balance the beautiful four blade prop. You may need to straighten the wheels which requires dis-assembly from the wing and grinding the pin, but it is worth it. Flight is predictable and stable but it is a warbird. Stay on the rudder during takeoff, use one notch of flap for TO and full for landing with 1/3 power to touchdown. Very stable in flight but keep the power on. Most maneuvers are fine at 55% throttle with a boost over the top of arcing turns or loops. Intermediate to advanced for the necessary skill set to enjoy this great model. The workmanship of components is fantastic, even the rear wheel retract is something to enjoy. Not particularly fast, but very impressive in the flybys. Overall a great plane to add to your collection.
A "Wow" plane at the field!
Awesome! Well packaged, received in just 3 days from date order placed. Be sure to order the 3 second P-51sequencer to raise the wheel flap doors when the wheels are down if you fly off a grass field. It is very easy to install and well worth the $7.99. I did have some trouble with the screws mounting the wings to the fuselage, but a touch of glue fixed it easily. (My bad for over tightening) I wish FMS could find a way to make this easier and foolproof as I had the same problem with the B-25. Kudos to "Motion RC".
Easy assembly! Flies great!
My buddy and I fly an aerobatic routine with a pair of these. It is amazing the attention to detail in these planes and the precision with which they fly. I highly recommend this plane for the intermediate to skilled pilot.
My First 1400 mm Bird
Shipping was great. This P51D is my first 1400 mm bird and I am surprised at how easy it is to fly. The take-offs and landings were effortless. It is very smooth and steady in the air. I recommend this to anyone considering stepping up to a larger plane. Dave's right on when he says double check all the screws...I had to tighten a couple and lost one myself. I recommend to MotionRC to everyone at the air strip!
Tighten all screws!
Just an update on the ridge runner. Go over the whole plane and tighten all the screws.(I should of known better) I noticed the landing gear was a little loose and one wheel wasn't lined up. While on the table for inspection there were screws missing , I lost three of the four small screws on the retracts. There are 8 screws(4 large and 4 small). Going to be a task to find some that small to replace. And also Does anyone know if there are supposed to set screws in the top of the gear strut next to the retract motor? If so they are gone also.
Envy of our field!
Super fast shipping, everything in great condition. Flies like its on a rail. Mod to the prop with zip tie and put an external 10amp BEC in. The only issue was putting it together, the elevator and rudder were hard to line up with the holes for the screws and the screws were not of the best quality so I changed them out for better ones. All the guys at the field want to know where I got it and told them to check it out at MOTION RC. And of course it went on sale after I bought it. All in all very satisfied.
