Following up on my earlier review, I had my maiden flight a couple days ago. Hand launching it flew right out of my hand.Having ailerons and only 50% the roll rate is still very fast. I had to add some uptrim but I think that's because I have a 2200 MAH battery. Going to try with a 1600 or 1800 and see how that goes. All in all this thing flies beautifully I am very happy with this plane. And with the 5100 Kv motor that I swapped out this thing really flies I think it's the fastest jet I have. Flies totally like it's on rails.I am already thinking about maybe checking out some four cell action after I get some flying time in.
Just one problem
Quality seems very good in scale appearance, the only issue I have is with the hinges, there is alot of slop, I had to add another hinge to tighten up the elevons. Seeing as how I had to take out the motor and fan because it was rubbing I replaced it with a 5100kv motor out of an old Panther I crashed. I'm also in the process of adding some carbon fiber rods in the wings as there aren't any in there. Not quite sure about the canopy seems kind of flimsy, hope to maiden in a couple days. I will update with another post.
can you put an admiral 1600 4 cell battery in this plan thanks
Very good plane for the $$
I have to say, GET THIS PLANE. It is cheap. It flies well. The roll rate on it is absolutely insane and it gets attention. I fly it without the landing gear, it hand launches pretty easily. It also glides well. I have run out of power mid-air like three times so far (still works, but engine cant run fast enough to keep plane in the air, etc), and I am still able to land it safely because I can just plop it down anywhere there is grass.
CUTIE, I HOPE SHE BEHAVES THOUGH!
I just completed my Rafale about an hour ago. Shes a blast to build! The only issues I had were with the nosegear steering, and ailevator deflection. The steering was way off. I only could get right steering. NO left. I had to take the steering arm off the servoe and reposition it. It works fine now. The other thing was the control surface deflection. I had my radio(Tactic 6) set on delta wing but. I had correct elevator diflection but the exact opposite for ailerons. I tried numerous times to reverse the controls, but no luck. I finally got frustrated and was about to give up when I thought that I would reverse the connectors to the reciever for the ailerons and elevator. I didnt know if it would work, but out of frustration I tried it. IT WORKED! I was like a child in a candy store. I finaly got her to work correctly. The thing is that now I realize that I figured out the problem, but what about the new guy who can hardly taxi? I think that this issue and the corrective procedure should be made available. All it requiered was for me to reverse the plugs. Put channel one in channel two, and vice versa. Worked for me.
the Rafale! !!
Motion rc has done it again what a amazing easy maiden I'm impressed of the quality and the easy built it felt little nose heavy but it needed some up elevator of course if u familiar with delta jets they need up but it was quick stable and nice flyer anothet classic in my collection ps please fms or freewing a GRIPEN! !!!!!! Lol
Fun starter Jet!
Bought this a while back from another retailer before I knew of Motion RC. It's a lot of fun to fly and easy to put together. The glide ratio on this plane is really good so you can bring her in nice and easy making this a good starter jet.The flight envelope is also wide making it fun at slow or high speed and the delta wing when glued in with epoxy is really strong so you can hop it up to be a real screamer. Fly's good, looks cool and is low cost.
