B-17 Flying Fortress Silver 1600mm (63") Wingspan from Freewing - FW30411P

This Freewing B-17 is one amazing plane to see in the sky and on the ground. Not only is the Freewing B-17 huge, but the scale looks, counter-rotating props, split flaps, and robust shock absorbing landing gear really attract attention. With way more than scale power, the Freewing B-17 is very agile for its size and the sound from the four 1350Kv motors cannot be beat. While assembly is simple, do be prepared to spend a few hours building the plane.

  • Extreme scale details including machine gun turrets, clear nose canopy, authentic WWII color schemes, and retractable landing gear
  • Large split flaps for short takeoffs and slow and smooth landings
  • Servoless worm drive landing gear with shock absorbing struts
  • Durable EPO foam construction
  • Nylon hinges on all control surfaces (superior to a foam hinge)
  • 4 Brushless motors, 4 ESC, and servos installed

Why was this discontinued? Its a great plane, it bums me out because now I can't buy props to it (which I need at the moment). I've only flown mine about 4 times, flies wonderful but had a couple of hard landings with a prop strike breaking the far right prop. Im bummed.

Beautiful Plane! Almost a 5 star plane....more like 4.5 stars!

I love my B17 and glad I got it. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for a few reasons. 1) Unreliable retract doesn't always come down when I want it to. Last flight I made a one-wheel landing. Surprised to find out all I had was the tiniest scuff under one wing and no prop damage! 2) Too much glue needed for assembly. I used an entire 1 oz tube of Foam Tac to assemble. 3) Wing is removable but wiring doesn't make it convenient. I was surprised though, to find I can stow the plane assembled right behind my front seat a Mustang! 4) Wing loading is a bit too heavy, but with flaps it flies much that's a bit of a cure 5) Tailwheel not retractable....a bit dissapointing for a 63" wingspan...then would be even more weight. SOME Notes: - I found the plane is pretty heavy for it's wing size...especially when flown on 2200's. BUT, if you fly it with flaps down. It slows down nicely and feels amazingly locked in. Almost like it has AS3X!! - I connected ESC's inboard/outboard vs. left side/right side as suggested in the instructions. This way if one ESC goes, or one lipo goes, plane is still flyable. BUT for some reason the outboard motors use up more voltage. I consistently land with inboard 3.85 and outboard at 3.75. Every time. Very strange. - Suggest opening up front/side machine gun portals for inward cooling, and cutting out some canopy/ cockpit windows for ESC exit cooling. Works great and not noticable. All In all I really like it and it flies great with some constant flaps. Lands like a feather, and looks great on the fly by's. I'm very happy to have one...especially when it was on sale! :-)

Freewing B-17

Fantastic model, flies great, very responsive and surprisingly fast (radar gunned at 75mph in level flight without wind). Runs great on my two 3s 3200mah batteries.

((((((((((((((((((((((((( The BEST ))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I have nothing but positive to say about this company and their employees. Extremely fast shipping and after I found out the plane was too large for the display I was making the return went smoothly and quickly. Very personal with their help and correspondence. They do it right! Thank you again!
