Freewing 90mm 12-Blade Metal EDF Yak-130 Super Scale Jet - Receiver Ready (PNP) - RJ30111P

Motion RC has partnered with Freewing to offer you the most highly detailed, scale foam RC jet available on the market - the Yakovlev Yak-130. Designed as a trainer/light attack aircraft and entering into service in 2009, the Yak-130 is the most advanced trainer utilized by the Russian Air Force. In designing this aircraft, Freewing has captured literally every detail of the full-size aircraft from the full painted ordinance to the two-seat cockpit with detailed instrument panels. High end electronics and hardware are abound on this model from the super bright 3W navigation and landing lights to shock absorbing aluminum landing gear to the metal gear servos on every control surface.

The Yak-130 is powered by a massive 4068-1680kV motor and Hobbywing 130A ESC, and with its 12 blade fan with metal housing, the Yak sounds every bit as good as it looks. If you typically fly 5 and 6 blade EDF jets, you'll be blown away at the sound this 12 blade EDF produces. While 5 and 6 blade EDF produce a high pitched whining sound, the 12 blade EDF with metal housing produces the "whoosh" and air crushing sound similar to a gas turbine jet. If you are a scale jet flyer looking for top of the line quality and superb detail, the Freewing Yak130 will not disappoint.

Features:

  • Incredible scale details including two hand painted pilots, full instrument cockpit, scale canopy, full compliment of ordinance, sequenced gear doors, and Russian Air Force graphics
  • 12 Blade factory balanced EDF with metal housing combined with 4068-1680kV brushless inrunner motor produces realistic jet turbine sound
  • Composite fan blades combined with metal EDF housing make the Yak-130 AMA compliant (the fan blades themselves are NOT metal, so there are no flying restrictions)
  • Heavy-duty 130 Amp Hobbywing ESC with 8A UBEC
  • Flight surfaces are controlled with 17g digital metal gear servos for precise movement, strength and long life
  • Ultra-bright LED landing and navigation lights for enhanced realism and dawn/dusk maneuvers
  • Electronic retractable landing gear with aluminum shock absorbing struts and sequenced gear doors
  • Upgraded pushrod clevis and metal ball head buckle provide a robust connection between servo and control surface and eliminate "play"
  • Full function flaps allow shorter take-off distances and slow, scale landings
  • Carbon spars and EPO foam construction provide the perfect balance between strength and flexibility
  • Nylon hinges on all control surfaces (superior to foam hinges)
  • Motor, servos, ESC and EDF come pre-installed for your convenience

Nice airplane for the money.

Love the plane, excellent detail. Went together easy. The light by the speed brake doesn't work. Mine had a bad flap servo when I got it. Motion RC was out of that particular servo, so the sent me 2 matching servos to replace it. I had to cut a small notch in the pylons to pull the servos plug through after they were glued on. Next model, I'll pre-notch them, just in case. Quick service from Motion RC :-) Only thing I didn't like, the gear doors are very fragile. Don't even think of picking it up with a hand over the doors. It will pop the doors off the hinges. They go back on easy...just be careful handling. I'm already eyeing a new EDF from Motion RC :-)

90mm Yak 130

I was looking something different! Something not to fast but demands a huge presence in the air. The Yak 130 hasn't disappointed me one bit. Love all the lights especially the landing lights. Super easy to assemble! Motion RC shippping to Canada was incredibly fast! 8 days from ordering to at m door! Little to cold to fly right now so can't wait for spring.

I Had To Upgrade!

I absolutely love this bird, but I was scared out of my wits on the first flight! She barely got off the ground (grass field) and when she did , I pretty much stayed WOT for the whole flight. {which I made 1:25 sec). After a thankful landing, I went directly to the MRC site to purchase the 8s upgrade motor and esc. Wow, what a difference! I now love the looks and performance of this beautiful YAK. Do yourself a favor... If speed is what you need...start with the 8s version. If you are okay with slow and dumpy...get the 6s. Either way, this plane turns heads at the field! My $0.02.

Excellent product / underpowered

The Yak130 is a very nice model. The quality of my pnp version is excellent. The assembly went smoothly and the check with a thunder power 6 S 5000 was right at 4.5 inches from the leading edge at root. I have a free flights on the Yak; 2:30 mins each. The packs are warm to the touch which shows the ESC is bumping up next to the C rating of the 55 C packs. The take offs are very scale with a roll out of approx 200 feet. Once in the air, the Yak is stable in all axis after about 50 throttle. Some wing rocking was present with throttle settings below 50 %. All flights were done in calm winds at sea level. Once the Yak was up to speed and clean, it felt very stable and tracked well. Vertical performance is not there and the roll rate is slow even with high rates in DR / expo. I flew with three flight modes. Low 60%dr and 25% expo. Mid Dr80% expo 35% , high 100% DR expo 40%. The flaps work well but make sure you slow them down to 5 seconds or else the nose will pop up. I tried a flap elevator mix of 6% down elevator with some success. But the kit version and add the jet fan 90 with the HET 700-68-1680 kv motor and at least a 120 amp ESC on 8 S 5000 battery.

great airplane, but need more guiding in setting the controls for the first flight

The airplane come very well packed and little work to finalize it, the only observation is the setting of the elevator, it is not very clear the initial position in the owners manual, and that may give you some troubles during the first flight to trim it. Other than tat great airplane!!!!

Nice plane, BUT

Ok, this is one very nice airplane as far as the aesthetics goes. The major problem is that it is an under performer. Flies at about 75 mph at full throttle. Since it is on the heavy side don't slow down what ever you do except for approach. It is too big for a 90mm fan. I used a 6s 5800 mah battery and found that I was lucky to land. After about 3 minutes I made the approach and had to abort for a second go around. What a mistake. I throttled up to find that it lumbered in the air like a giant. So I made a slow 180 degree turn and another for final. I made the turn and was about 10' off the ground when she just fell out of the air due to lack of speed. I had her in the air for 3 minutes and 15 seconds and she was spent. Luck only minor nose and nose gear were affected. Fix took about 30 seconds. I was one lucky flier. As another reviewer said the speed break servo only lasted to about 2 or 3 times and the servo burned out. Replaced with a good quality servo this time and works like a charm. My recommendation to Motion and others is to replace the motor for the fan with something that is better in power and less power consumption, otherwise they will have some unhappy fliers. This is the only reason I took a star away from the total count. I will try again with the same fan, but a higher C rating. The one I used only had a 50c. I will also know not to fly over 2 1/2 minutes. Hope I don't have to go around for another trial landing this time.
