G-RX8 8-Channel Receiver with Altitude and Speed Sensor from FrSky - FRS3020701

While this receiver can be used for any aircraft, the G-RX8 is specifically designed to be used for gliders.  FrSky built the variometer sensor into the RX8R receiver, which gives you telemetry data like altitude and vertical speed.  The G-RX8 supports the redundancy function as well, this means you can add on another receiver to create a back-up in case one fails.  In addition, it supports SBUS and PWM mode which you can switch between the 2 channels very easily.

Features:

  • Comes with a high precision variometer sensor
  • Supports redundancy functionality
  • Supports telemetry data transmission
  • Switchable SBUS/PWM mode (1~8CH from PWM outputs and 1~16CH from SBUS output)

Includes:

  • FrSky G-RX8 8-Channel Receiver with Altitude and Speed Sensor

  • FrSky 2.4GHz Transmitter -  Select a minimum 6 channel FrSky radio from our Radio Collection

First foray into telemetry

An upgrade to existing radios wasn't an option so the cheapest alternative came from FRSky & I couldn't have asked for a better, more reasonably priced unit.

G-RX8 RX

Nice small unit, will fit most planes .It is smaller than man 4-5 ch rx's. Pin spacing is somewhat tight making it hard to plug in servos, but other than that its a good unit especially considering the price.

FrSky G-RX8 8-Channel Receiver with Altitude and Speed Sensor

Works great with the Taranis transmitter. Nice to have a vario, altimeter and rate of climb on voice for Sailplanes.

All in one, very nice

All glider sensors in one Reciever, this is a very nice receiver, 2 things i did not like, the cardboard case, and only short full range antennas, 9 cm until the tip of the antenna, wen you use a carbon hull and u need to get outside, than that is very short, overall very nice receiver, the receivers range test is also very good , the same like all other full range receivers form Frsky, so no problems in that area, and yes it has telemetry drift on start up, this is normal, u need to let the sensors warm up of about 20 sec, good time to check ur servo's, and than do a telemetry reset, and it all works fine

Good product

Nice to have the all in one product. Saves space and weight in the small space given in my glider. I’ve flown it a few times now and good range

Excellent receiver

I use these in all my gliders as I love the altimeter and variometer options. The form factor is also much better than the X8R

Awesome Receiver!

Great for my 3m glider. Range seems to be flawless, and sensors make using with my x9D+ very easy.

FrSky G-RX8

This is for my first glider. I've never used this kind of telemetry before, so I'm no expert. But I can tell you this, it was very easy to set up. Two caveats: First, to bind it successfully requires OpenTx 2.1.9 minimum. I was a version behind and I could not get it to bind. Secondly, BE CAREFUL HOW YOU PLUG THE BATTERY IN! I didn't have my glasses on and plugged the battery in one pin too high. I bricked it! Other than that, I love it!
