Okay Starter plane

The plane can not fly against wind so there has to be a very calm day to fly it. If your looking to get your feet wet to see if flying is something you or your kids might like to try, it's a cheap investment. Its not a complete waste of money. My grandson still likes to fly it.

A great little airplane

This is my 2nd Duet, I live in the desert and a dust devil got hold of my first one. I'm looking forward to flying this one in a little park close by my house. I'm old and my reflexes are not what they used to be, so I needed a plane that does not require instant reaction, and I'm a lousy pilot to boot.. I love the plane and will buy another one if I loose this one.

It’s pretty good

For a first time flier it was magnificent, but after a while it gets boring from the lack of roll controls. But all in all it is a great little plane.

Pretty good plane

It arrived quickly and overall a pretty good plane. Flys easily and is a good plane for a beginner.. My only complaint is the fuselage broke in ftont of the tail assembly after a minor crash. And the tail assembly itself is a little flimsy.

Not to bad

Great for starters. After "emergency" landings in the tree's, nose diving into cattle fencing and the such, I would say it is pretty tough... Well, after a few repairs.

Perfect Beginner Plane

I would highly recommend this as a beginner plane. It has good flight characteristics for a trainer. It will definitely help you get your bearings in the air so you can learn the critical behavior of staying ahead of the plane vs. chasing the plan. You should definitely take off the wheels and hand launch and then land on grass. If you get in trouble you just shut down the throttle and glide it in. If you do bounce it it is pretty durable. I fixed some nose damage with some hot glue and extreme shipping tape. I also taped 2 small nuts to the top of the nose to get a good center of gravity. Make sure to buy some extra batteries and the USB charger. I tried other 'trainers' and was in mostly panic mode and had some great crashes. This plane enabled me to build confidence up to where I was literally chasing my friends around when they were flying much more advanced planes. The behaviors I learned with this definitely applied to moving up to more advanced planes over the last 2 years where now I am flying 4 cell planes with up to a 50 inch plus wingspan and doing mid range aerobatics. One caveat is you can only fly this in mild wind since it's so light.

Good first plane

My brother got this almost 2 years ago for his very first plane. He hasn't had any hard crashes so I can't say how well it would hold up. Seems fine though after some minor crashes in grass. Didn't take too long until he started getting the hang of it. This is a good choice for a very first plane if you want something cheap and easy to fly. Only reason for 4 stars is that it uses differential thrust for turning. Because of this, you can't make a tight turn unless it's at full throttle. If you're just cruising around the turns are kind of wide. Not that big of a deal though, I just wish it had a rudder like the champ. But I would still recommend it for beginners.
