- February 6, 2017 - The canopy in some of the photos was painted blue. The actual plastic canopy is lightly tinted smoke as you can see in the other photos, with a traditional two seat foam cockpit area. Pilots can tint or paint the canopy to any shade they prefer, and detail the cockpit to the extent they prefer, before gluing the canopy on.

The 80mm Avanti is truly among the very best EDF's available, what a cool time to be in this hobby. Extremely stable and fast, yet able to be stable at a crawl, and make for excellent, nice looking and stress-free landings. COG is better a little further back than 105mm per manual (I have mine dead level at 111mm gear up). It has a very wide envelope, and I do recommend 2 clicks of down at half-flap, and 4-5 clicks at full, this will allow you to keep slight up attitude with ELE and then modulate altitude with throttle, by the book. I land at about 15% on final and chop once into ground-effect. BENEFITS HUGELY FROM FRONT GEAR REINFORCEMENT PLATE AND NACA DUCTS TO PROVIDE AIRFLOW TO PACK** Check e-bay, some well made 3D printed front gear reinforcement, NACA duct and thrust-nozzle pieces there, just search 3D 80mm Avanti and you'll find them, THEY ARE NECESSARY ** As usual MotionRC support is top notch, though I've needed nothing and this plane has done superbly well, after about 85 flights. I normally land a take off at half flap (I seldom use full) and typically fly agressively for 3 minutes, or moderate throttle for 3:30, using graphene 75c 5000, heady duty 5k 60c and another 5200 60c pack (all between 876 and 920 gram) I'm about 5/8" from rear-stop with the packs. The packs come down about 20-30% for both flying styles/times listed above. When I say it has ZERO bad habits, it is literally true- and this is the ONLY EDF I've ever owned that truly deserved this praise -- I've had 40+ other EDF's and all have some sort of vice, NOT THE AVANTI. Even with the heavier packs I use, given proper CoG the plane is nearly impossible to tip-stall (I've foreced it, and you would never fly in the condition I needed to get it into, in order to achieve a tip-stall - even then it was moderate, NOT extreme at all!!) I'm so impressed with all aspects of this extremely well engineered jet. It's small enough to fit in your car easily, flies effortlessly and makes for short take-offs. I find the 12 blade sounds better than the 9, they both have about equal performance BUT, the 9 blade is certainly more gentle on packs -- overall performance about same, you'll see equal amount of people who say 12 faster than 9, and vice-versa. I find they're about the same overall, given equal packs, tho true 65c or higher 75+ packs seem to give the 12 blade a SLIGHT advantage over the 9 for speed. On any lesser packs, 9 and 12 fly about the same. I still prefer sound of the 12 more. The scale 2d printed thrust nozzle makes it look SOOO much better, and does not affect FSA nor thrust. The NACA ducts will benefit any Lipo pack and allow both Lipo and ESC to run cooler, and that airflow goes through EDF, so there's no loss to inlet air flow - mount on fuse sides as pictured. ENJOY - this is truly my favorite EDF, OF ALL I HAVE OWNED, and is the one EDf jet that I ALWAYS 100% take to field - I never fail to take this plane. use rubber band mod on front cable-anchor to insure front gear spring stays in right position. At this price, it is an OUTSTANDING value, and makes EDF flight accessible to rookie pilots because it has ZERO of the scale-vices that almost all warbird & scale EDF's. I cant wait to see what Freewing produces in the years to come. THANKS MOTION RC for being the most supportive and awesome provider of EDF jet models!!!

Very nice flying jet, no gyro needed. Made a piece to stiffen the front nose gear and a hole to get some air to the battery, other than that it is a very well designed plane and hope to have it for many years to come.
Great airplane. I am an old prop pilot and this is my first DF airplane. The transition using this airplane is just wonderful. What a great looking and flying airplane.

Ein Flieger der richtig Spass macht. Fliege mit mind. 5800 SLS Accus. Durch das höhere Gewicht fehlt etwas Agilität, aber dadurch habe ich doch einigermaßen vernünftige Flugzeiten. Zum Landen reichen die kleinen Ausschläge an den Klappen. Ein herzliches Dankeschön nochmals an Motion RC NL. Dank eines vernünftigen Paketdienstes, war der Flieger innerhalb von 2 Tagen bei mir.
