Overview
A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" Super Scale Twin 80mm EDF Jet from Freewing - ARF PLUS - FJ31111AP

Version Info: This is the ARF+ version for pilots who wish to install their own power system. All primary electronics including servos and landing gear come pre-installed, just add your own power system (EDF, motor, and ESC) to begin flying.
Renowned by its crews and the men and women it has protected on the ground for decades, the A-10 Thunderbolt II, affectionately called the ‘Warthog’, continues to dominate the skies on CAS missions in conflict areas around the world. Despite first flying over 40 years ago, the A-10’s superior ability to execute its intended mission in modern warfare remains unchallenged.
To honor this iconic aircraft we are very proud to announce the world’s largest and most definitive foam electric PNP A-10 Thunderbolt RC model aircraft in the world! This 1700mm wingspan beast is larger than any other foam A-10 on the market, yet it remains easy to transport. The Freewing 80mm A-10 delivers the best balance between size, weight, thrust, top speed, stall speed, transportability, rough grass handling, and overall scale fidelity. As an added bonus we've included a full complement of highly detailed weapons in the box; a $50 value!
The model is assembled from just ten main parts. Removable wings and a convenient flexible servo wire harness accessible at the wing root ensures a safe and reliable electronic connection at all times. The A-10’s wings are composed of hollow chambered foam with an interlocking matrix of plywood ribs, carbon square spars, and aluminum blocks, providing rigid yet supple handling.
The Freewing 80mm A-10 was specifically designed to be the most grass-capable PNP EDF on the market. While sporting a scale Oleo nose strut, the main struts are tensioned trailing links and the foam rubber tires are over 3” tall and 1” wide. In the air, the A-10 can deliver a fully scale flight profile. Tall vertical loops, hard “jinking” turns, stable slow flight, and authoritative power. Critically, this model was designed to fly at all throttle points, both upright and inverted, without pitch sensitivity.
As a semi-scale model, the Freewing 80mm A-10 is finished from the factory in USAF two tone gray. A decal set is now pre-applied from the factory. These decals proudly represent Georgia’s 23rd Fighter Group “Flying Tigers” (Artwork courtesy of Boom and Zoom Graphics).

For pilots wanting to install a matched pair of their own 90mm EDFs on 6s, we offer a 90mm nacelle which bolts into place and retains the outer dimensions of the stock 80mm nacelle. Own the world’s largest, most capable, most customizable, and most powerful foam electric PNP A-10 and add a definitive scale powerhouse to your hangar today!

Wish I had bought one years ago. Absolute dream to fly. Air was choppy and swirling. No gyro, x2 HRB 6s 5000, zero trim. Flew on rails. Bumpy air didn't bother it at all. Definitely going to purchase V2 in the future or find a V1 used/NIB.

Test flight with 4500mah 6s x2. Good flight slightly nose heavy. 5min. Flight time Easy. Have about 10 flights so far moved rear bat. Pack to the electronic board and front back pack about 2in. Great ruff field aircraft i’m flying off mix off buffalo grass and blue stem clump grass scalped. The gear is taking a beating and doing well. I like to fly scale and only require max of 50% power to achieve this. The 12blade fan motors plenty of power. Blasting the reverse thrust i can stop it in 10feet on landing. Come in with a touch of throttle I hit the main wheels everytime and avoid the porpoise everyone talks about. Build was supersimp and the bird has docile handling tendencies. If your looking for an edf that can be flown true to scale this is your plane! Very pleased with this A10!

I often came across this one and I didn't have this one in my Freewing squadron yet and of course it couldn't be missing. I found it striking that it was not Super scale as stated, but hey, I have several. So I made it a bit more scale and made it a special version. It flies great and you can assemble it quickly. I did upgrade the EDF unit and that is noticeable

No airframe issues and a great maiden flight. I kept the stock factory gear and struts and so far no issue if one fully holds a flare and stalled landing without excess speed. I also use a “instant flap up” landing switch on touchdown which keeps the nosegear recoil controlled very well.
