Overview
Douglas C-47 1800mm (70.8") Wingspan - ARF from Nexa - NXA1012-001
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain or Dakota (RAF, RAAF, RCAF, RNZAF, and SAAF designation) is a military transport aircraft developed from the civilian Douglas DC-3 airliner. It was used extensively by the Allies during World War II and remained in front-line service with various military operators for many years.
The Nexa Douglas C-47 is a 70" wingspan electric scale series warbird, constructed primarily from balsa wood and covered with a fuel-resistant covering. This ARF requires assembly and installation of your choice of servos and power system, and includes painted pilot, antenna and other scale details. The large battery hatch affords ample room for either electric or gas setups. Impress at your flying field with this iconic stunner!
Please Note: Struts pictured are optional shock absorbing struts. More basic wire struts are included with the plane. The optional struts are located in our "upgrade" or "spare parts" tabs (coming soon).

Perfect Maiden
Just flew the maiden in very heavy 15 mph winds down the runway. Plane flew perfectly. Very stable. No trim required at all. Really amazing. Landed with full flaps.

It is impossible to accomplish CG specified by Manual using the two 3 cell 5000mAh LIPOs specified by Motion-RC. You will be super nose heavy. It is possible that CG in the book is incorrect. So I ended up using one 5000 mAh LIPO instead of two in order to get book CG. When flying, the airplane behaved like super tail heavy. It will take off without applying any elevator, with all 3 wheels still on the ground. Tail will not go up when you pick up speed on the runway, like it is supposed to make the airplane straight. As a result of that it will have tendency to stall due to high angle of attack after it takes off. 2-nd issue is retractable landing gear. Each gear is made of 43 pieces (not counting electronic retract), out of which there are fifteen 1.5 mm set screws. Only 2 places have flat spot. All other set screw go to round bars. There is one 1.5 mm set screw that prevents gear from folding (or collapsing) during take off, or landing, or taxing. That set screw will give up and you will end up scraping the runway. Initially the gear folded on me several times. Check my YouTube video titled "C 47 Main Gear Design Issue". Even when you resolve all that the gear issues, the gear will be getting stuck during retracting because the wooden opening has 0 tolerance, and gear will be rubbing against the wood. I flew the airplane 3 times (each time a nightmare), I crushed it after 3-rd takeoff when it went up and stalled due to lack of speed due to high angle of attack (even though I moved my battery forward compared to other flights). My advise is use two LIPOs instead of one LIPO that I used. My opinion is that this is badly engineered airplane. I will not fix it or buy it again. I am not even mentioning what you have to go through to fit ESC, and other assembly challenges. At the time of writing this review out of 4 reviews, only one person presumably flew the airplane. That person wrote it flies like a fighter airplane which tells me he did not fly it. Buy it for looks or for experimenting how to make it work.
